Suggestions for kickstarter
« on: January 09, 2013, 11:11:34 pm »
Hi guys can we post some suggestions to help Justin with his kickstarter.  On previous form with the amount of time he has been able to spend updating customers around his other commitments I cannot see this being successful without some help.

The most obvious ones for me would be
- regular updates
- the icon is text for 'zero' at the monent.  At a glance that is not going to grab anyone's attention
- likewise the first screen of the video is a logo.  No one cares what the logo looks like, that should be a picture of the product.  It's a great product so it should be obvious from the first time someone stumbles across it what you are selling

I am assuming he's aware of asking games sites to cover it but suggestions can't hurt

There are also a bunch of good tips in the following clip

Justin, I sent you an email a while back about the KS - a lot of ppl shop around on the KS site, therefore its a good idea to have a GCW Zero product shot as your KS avatar.

It worked for iCP, pledges went up considerably when they changed to a product shot.

Otherwise, great KS and website!!

Edit: can you put more pictures on the KS? More videos? Its a big wall of text atm :)

Also, setup up twitter account and FB page. Link the FB page and twitter back to KS. Post updates to those every day.

Really, use as much free marketing as you can. Use the social media. If justin or qbert is too busy to do it, delegate to another team member :)

Just checked Google, and don't see evidence of a single news story about the GCW Zero's Kickstarter on any of the big tech blogs or gaming sites.

Justin & GCW team -- if you have not already, you need to contact Engadget and at least a dozen other such sites and get the story covered. Also play the Linux angle with Slashdot.

I would do some emails myself but I just had eye surgery yesterday and am not even supposed to be on the computer, so I need to get off now before my wife sees... ;-P

I think people would like to see some muscle in action, some psx-n64 emulation, i know you are still working on the drivers, but it would be great to see it as soon as possible.

So I've been hitting Craigslist in a few major US cities, but I'm running out of email addresses and phone numbers for verification.  This is where anyone here can help.  Make a listing for the GCW-Zero on your local Craigslist pointing people the Kickstarter:

You can see my posts in San Francisco, New York, Seattle, & Vermont.

Check it out on Kickstarter now, see the link above.

To see it in action:

Please re-share this information and spread the GCW-Zero <3

Get that 5% Kickback logo up there, then it's time to approach Brian Fargo for some support, as he was the first to do that officially with a Kickstarter.

Nope. They're snubbing us. They just did an article to help a Kickstarter for a video game magazine. Really?? Are video game magazines a thing anymore?

Sorry, Justin, looks like we won't be on Kotaku. You should have invented an anime love pillow. I think theres been a few articles on those posted.

Was that magazine represented at CES? I'm just wondering if it's more about CES than GCW being snubbed?

I think next week will be better press wise, but it could just be a week of people regurgitating and debating CES stuff from this week.  We need to keep working and spreading the good word about this device.  Eventually we'll find <3

Gotta get the Kickstarter & Facebook linked.  The number of likes on Facebook is pretty good in 48 hours.  You can be getting a lot more there.  Never give them money though.

Should a press release come to light?
Might want to do a $25 ad with www.prweb.com
Don't pay them the $50 or $100 they want, I think you can do a minimum of $25

Twitter needed to link to the Facebook.

Anyone developing for this should have links in their LinkedIn profiles, the link to the new GCW site, the Kickstarter, your blog and all shared amongst themselves.

Gorilla Craigslist folks, just a general description of the device for the title and a link to the Kickstarter inside, a pic helps.

Forgot:
Everything should be linked into Google+

I think maybe they don't understand how or what we mean by linking. We mean linking it in your KS profile.

I made a post on CL in my city. I said in the post that I have a unit in hand and am willing to meet with people to demo it for them. Please pray I don't get murdered.

I'm going to arrange with people to meet in a coffee shop during certain hours and demo there. Nice and safe.

Good work guys. I think your posts would do better in the other thread though, this thread is specifically for suggestions about improving the KS page. At least thats how it began! :)

I posted here and they love homebrew here

From what i've seen they really don't like the GCW, but i take their words with a grain of salt.

$100,000 to make in 16days its gonna be close but i think we will do it $30,000 already pledged in 3 days so i estimate 10-12 more days we should hit our target.
