We are looking for people who would like to help the project by becoming repository maintainers.
Currently the repository maintenance is done by a small team of software developers, who would rather focus on the job they're good at (development). As a result, we currently have a backlog of software released on the forums that could be added to the repository, but wasn't properly revised as of yet. We are hoping that by offloading this task to dedicated people, we could organize the responsibility flow better and as a result make the community thrive.
Repository maintainer is someone who keeps an eye on the state of the software repository (http://repo.gcw-zero.com
The tasks would include:
- monitor the forums for new software releases
- evaluate software for its readiness for the repository and compliance with the porting guidelines (http://wiki.gcw-zero.com/Software_Porting_Guidelines
- maintain contact with the software authors when preparing new software for the repository
- upload new software to the repository and update existing software
We'd ask that you have enough spare time to manage those responsibilities at least on a weekly basis and remain available on our IRC channel (http://www.gcw-zero.com/irc
) for direct contact with.
It shall be noted that the repository is fully maintained by the community (despite being hosted in gcw-zero.com domain) and there is no connection to or involvement of Game Consoles Worldwide LLC in any part of the process. As such, we cannot offer you any financial compensation and are expecting a volunteer work (as is the entire software development for this platform).
If you are interested in this position, either:
a) reply in this thread
b) send me a PM
c) Join IRC to contact me directly
If you want to help the community, but are not interested to become a repository maintainer - we also remain open for people who want to help with the wiki documentation (http://wiki.gcw-zero.com
) or can help by other means.
