GCW- First Impressions
« on: October 16, 2012, 07:22:58 pm »
Please vote and record your first impressions of GCW Zero.  Poll is open for 45 days and users are allowed to change their vote as they get more familiar with the device.

Device hasnt shipped yet but will soon.  Ive allowed 45days in order to give those overseas,  plenty of time to receive their units.  For now, first impressions can simply be based on performance we've seen through videos and such.  Again, you can change your vote later.  :)

Now.... I have voted already as my first impression was a video I seen posted on dingoo-scene... I click the link then hit th Pre-Order... (well paypal link) and Boom.... If I was not that impressed I would of waited till it released :)

Well that and I wanted the SE features.... I would of hated myself for not getting one if I got standard lol

Question is.... will any devs port anything to run on the SE that "dont have the power" to run on the standard ?

Dingoo A320, GCW0, RS-97 x2, Revo-K101, RS-90, PSP, GameGadget, New 3DS 128GB, PS Vita 200GB, RS-45, Gamebox Advance and a few other obscure devices

I think that most developers agree that 256 MB of RAM is more than enough for emulation, and also there's the video memory of the GPU available. Maybe with PSX or N64 they can skip some optimizations, but 512MB is too much, not really usefull on a handheld that's not meant to be a multitasking device.

It's like the high end video cards with 2GB of video memory... there's no game that uses that amount of video memory, you'll need to open more games just to use all of it.

That's the only difference from a developer point of view, I think I've read that the SE has also more GB on the internal SDCard, but that doesn't affect any application.

I have a video coming soon that will make you very happy i hope. This is on a standard version too. It is taking a long time to ftp over now.  So it will be up later

It's not really a "first impression" if you can change your vote based on later impressions. :P

Anyway, first time I saw it was the video from qbert where it was just called an "upcoming handheld", and I thought it looked small, basic and boring. It wasn't until after I got my YDPG16 that I realised I WANTED something that was small, basic and boring (I was so disappointed with the Yinlips I went back to my A320, dodgy dpad and all). It was then I payed more attention to the internals of this thing and what it could potentially do, and that's when I got super excited and had to buy one.  8)
