Request for MegaMan Homebrew Ports
« on: December 03, 2014, 12:44:23 pm »
Hi all

I'm really enjoying the GCW as it allows me to play all the old MegaMan Games. I've recently found some cool ports for PC but I can't get them running on DosBox

Would it be possible to port them. They are inofficial so there should be no problem with Copyrights and the games would fit perfectly into the Opendingux games section:

MegaPony -> http://www.equestriadaily.com/2013/11/megapony-final-release-now-available.html
MegaMan 7 8Bit remake: http://megaman.wikia.com/wiki/Rockman_7_Famicom
MegaMan 8 8Bit remake: http://megaman.wikia.com/wiki/Rockman_8_Famicom

Would it be possible to port these or is it too much work or even not possible?

Dosbox is only going to play games and software designed for the dos operating system/dos era hardware so games built on newer operating systems wont work. If the games don't have their source code available then porting them wouldn't be possible. Even if the games source code is available some programming languages would be probably too difficult to port the the gcw zero.

That's a pitty. As far as I can see there is no possibility to run 32bit dos/win games? Event if they are rather simple?

Like i said dosbox will only run software designed for the dos operating system and dos era hardware in mind, those games were made with current operating systems and hardware they may seem simple in comparison to modern hardware but in comparison to dos era hardware they might require a lot more than dosbox could run on the gcw zero
