Half-Life is not open source. There is a Quake I mod that uses HL1 maps and models, however it's far from a complete reimplementation of the GoldSrc engine. You were probably thinking of that.

There was a very impressive video of a work-in-progress port of Quake 3 running on the Zero, showing the state of OpenGL development on the hardware. That was over a year ago though, and I haven't heard any mention of the Quake 3 port since, unfortunately. I'm keeping my fingers crossed in hopes that we may see a release sometime in the future.

As far as I know, Pickle released a Quake I GLES engine port:

He dropped a link to it in this post:
http://boards.dingoonity.org/gcw-games-and-homebrew/quake-ii/msg104707/#msg104707

Just keep in mind this is what I call a recompilation and not a port - there's almost no work towards making it playable with limited controls. You can go to options menu, change something and prevent the game from ever running again, etc. On top of that performance of the game is bad, especially once more than 1 bot is on the map.

If anybody is looking for cheap data files the Quake games are currently on sale via Steam, the whole collection (only up to QIII though) is just over ?10.

For Q3 actually it's in the link provided by zear : pickle.gp2x.de/gcw/ioquake3_gcw.tar.gz

1?)You have to extract the file, then copy the directory to /apps.
2?)In the directory copy the pak files from the original game, ie buy it on steam
3?)Rename the file ioquake3 without the extention
4?)You'll have to chmod a+x the file ioquake3 using telnet
5?)Create a shortcut using g2xmenu

Quake 3 runs very surprisingly well on the zero, despite the badly configured inputs.

No luck getting Quake 3 running here. After successfully changing file permissions, I tried using the demo version's pak files and then the full version's pak files in the baseq3 folder without success for either. Both load to a black booting screen for before crashing back to the menu less than a second later. Very frustrating. I don't know what I'm doing wrong. :(

Make sure you didn't copy a config file from PC Quake III that would mess up things such as the game resolution.

I double checked and that doesn't seem to be the case. I did find an error log that reported and incorrect checksum for pak1, however. Perhaps that's the root of the problem. Strange since the game worked fine on my PC the last time I played it, though that was many years ago. I just uploaded those crusty old pak files to the Zero without testing the game on my PC to see if it still works after multiple hardware upgrades installed over the years. If I can't fix it with what I already have on hand I may need to buy the game again on Steam. I honestly want to see Q3 running on my Zero that badly.

Turns out what I needed was the updated pak file "patch" set for ioquake3, released to the public directly by id. Got the game working wonderfully. :)

I have to admit, Quake 3 runs incredibly smoothly on the Zero. All that's lacking are some control options like look/strafe. As others have mentioned, the frame rate dips slightly with more than one bot on screen simultaneously, but not by much and not enough to be distracting. Makes me wonder if/how well Unreal Tournament would run on the Zero!

Try to beat the entire game - some levels run waaay to slow to consider this game playable at the current state of the port.
