Quake 2 Demo to Full?
« on: December 15, 2014, 08:24:16 pm »
I recently downloaded Quake 2 for the GCW-Zero from here: https://drive.google.com/folderview?id=0B9EgGumkJaabSE9TaEdFbVVBSlU&ddrp=1#list

I noticed this is only the Quake 2 demo. I have the full game on CD. Is there a way to upgrade the GCW-Zero version from the demo to the full version?
Do I need to move over the shareware game's files to quake 2's folder?

Bump

Anyone know how to do this? As I said, I have the Quake 2 demo port, and I have the full version on CD. Is there a way to upgrade the demo to the full version? If not, then I'll just move the files over from my game disc and run the full version through Dosbox.

Yes, you just copy the files into the $home/.quake2. I think it was the baseq2 folder.

Hi Frost,

How did you make out? When I copy over the baseq2, launching the game brings me back to the home screen. Demo runs great though. I am using the steam version. I wonder if that makes a difference.

Copy over everything from baseq2 except for the config.cfg.
The config.cfg comes with the port, and sets the resolution.

Overwriting that with Steam's config will change the resolution to 1000 something by 700 something and cause the game to crash.

Thank You!

I was going to give that a shot today as well. Big thanks as well to johnnyonflame for his ports. Big fan of Zear's Duke port too.
