Title: HELP: G-sensor and descent 2
Post by: KickingCooler on June 25, 2014, 05:53:45 am
I just got the G-SENSOR application from https://docs.google.com/file/d/0B-JDsucVcM2dYlZnQmpYZ0RnNVE/edit?pli=1
and i also got descent 2. I started up the g-sensor program and it said
" ---- GMenu2X starting ----
umount: can't umount /mnt/gsensor/: invalid argument
checking for running instances of the analog driver...
Starting driver...
Process forked at pid: 757
If you get a message about a new event device, then we're good
Couldn't request input: Invalid argument
Hit start to continue. "

I didn't mind that and went to Descent 2. I started playing and turning the gcw zero in every direction and nothing happened. Please help me.

This is a proof of concept driver working only on prototype boards. There is currently no g-sensor driver for the retail units (although one is already in development).

I was supposed to get a retail unit but i got a prototype. I know this because on the speakers, there is no wire mesh.
the g-sensor works, but i can't map it to Descent 2.

Prototypes have 256 MiB RAM. If yours have 512 MiB (you can see that in the "system info" app), then it's not a prototype.

If the driver is working, g-sensor can be mapped in Descent 2 just like regular joysticks. How do you know your g-sensor is working?

Because i can move around the menu by moving the system.

I wrote a driver for it. It still needs to be made to work on prototype devices (since the chip is inverted 180? it reports reversed values) and needs proper integration with the OS. But it's not too much work so it'll come in the next update, I think.

Everything is implemented and working. G-sensor will be in next firmware.
