(Port Request) Locomalito amazing games
« on: August 28, 2013, 11:53:20 pm »
Hi guys, I don't know if any of you have tried any of this great spanish dev, Locomalito:

http://www.locomalito.com/

He really has some amazing games that would be really cool to port to the GCWZ.
They are all free, so maybe he can supply the source code.

Maldita Castilla and l'Abbaye des Morts are just great!

Yup, I barked up that tree a little while ago...

Bottom line is, Locomalito makes his games in Game Maker.  Yoyogames, the developers of Game Maker have next to no interest in supporting or releasing modules for the GCW.
But, GM supports linux...

I've contacted Locamalito and he said this:
Quote
It's not possible to port my current games to other platforms, as they are made with Windows Game Maker. The only chance is for a crazy coder to rewrite them entirely from scratch and for free, so imagine...
With that and all, there is actually one of my games rewrited for linux, pandora and caanoo, L'Abbayes des Morts, so maybe the door is not closed at all :-)

And, there is an effort being put forward to have Hydorah re-written as well:
https://code.google.com/p/hydorah-for-linux/

So the door isn't completely closed, but it's not as easy as just a straight port.

No, it's not a port, it's a re-write.  But it's being worked on, apparently.

In fact, Game maker already support export to android mips based device so adding a module to export for GCW zero is pretty doable but will require Open GLES to be added first (which should happen really fast now if you look at that :

Alternativly, there's some open source engine that can use resource from game maker :

http://enigma-dev.org/

I already asked enigma  devs if it could export to gcw and it may be doable with the same needs : openGL/gles and openAL (similar as openGL but for sound).
