Toolchain for 32 bit Linux
« on: October 03, 2014, 06:58:59 am »
So currently GCW only officially releases the development toolchain for 32 linux systems. Why is this? Would it be hard to create a port for 64 bit? Are there any plans to? I believe I've seen ports to get it on Windows. Has anyone made one that works on 64 bit linux, or is there anything I can do to make it work? Ubuntu 14.04 if that matters. Thanks.

You can already use 32-bit toolchain on 64-bit linux, just install 32-bit libraries for your system.

And no, there's no 64-bit toolchain for Windows.

Could you name any reason why 64-bit toolchain would be better than 32-bit one? Any real-life examples where this difference matters?

No. I just didn't know you could gte it to work on a 64 bit system. This answers my question completely. I'm pretty new to this, thanks!
