Title: ScummVm Development Release, supports The Neverhood
Post by: David Knight on July 23, 2015, 09:33:57 am
A while ago I compiled the latest git version of ScummVm and added analogue joystick support, high resolution support (for Chivalry is Dead) and enhanced sound. Unfortunately the source code at this point was messy and difficult for me to work with and because I wanted to pursue other projects I abandoned this project.

So here's the results of my efforts, I'm not particularly happy with the source code but if anyone wishes to see it please PM me.

Controls
D-Pad: Mouse control (speeds up over time)
A-Stick: Mouse control (Variable speed, hold L to increase speed further) - This allows you to execute tricky timed sequences such as picking up the fish in Monkey Island.
X: Keyboard
A/B: Mouse clicks
START: Menu
Select: Escape/skip

If the sound skips too much then change the sound driver to Adlib.
If you get resolution issues (eg keyboard no centred) change resolution to "Normal(no scaling)"

Edit
I have been asked if The Neverhood is supported. I can confirm I have tested and found no problems running the Neverhood with this version.

The analog stick doesn't work for me when using this version of scummvm.  is there something else I need to do besides installing the OPK?

Thanks.

No, it should just work. You could try confirming that he firmware is up to date.

Does the D-pad work? If so just use that for now.

This is a dev release so is not complete, I'll be aiming for a more feature complete release when the next ScummVM version is released.

Thanks for this release!

I try Neverhood but crashes, maybe the problem are my game's version? I try with another one.

I have tested The Neverhood and confirm it works with this version. As it is in 640x480 resolution you may need to alter this in the graphical settings. Have you checked the log file?

Btw I am planning to do a proper port of ScummVM after the next version which should be released very soon.

Yeah! You're right!

Neverhood runs well, a bit slowly but playable.

I can't wait for the new release, thanks ;)

The new version of ScummVM 1.8 is out and I've been beaten to the punch with an official release (http://www.gcw-zero.com/downloads) for the GCW Zero  ;D

My only issue with this release is the use of SDL_SWSURFACE which causes cursor corruption.
