Has anyone tried making apps/games using PySDL2?

Based on my experience with pygame, I found that it was too slow for action games but most of the speed lost was on blitting. This makes me think that perhaps rendering textures using PySDL2 will be fast enough, and since python and SDL2 both work on GCW Zero, maybe PySDL2 will work too.
