Hi,
I thought I'd just toss that link here:
https://github.com/gcwnow/linux/wiki/Upstream-status
It lists the various components of the OpenDingux kernel, and their upstream status (whether they are in the upstream Linux or not).
Focus will be on pushing as much stuff as possible for Linux 4.14, which is to be released around November.

a very helpful document, pcercuei! Thanks for throwing us a bone in regards to this progress :)

@pcercuei
It says that HDMI out and tv encoding does not work, does that mean it isn't possible for it to work?

It is possible for it to work, but it depends on other things being implemented first (a KMS video driver).

Okay, thanks.

@pcercuei Any updates on the Upstream status? The Github Wiki page hasn't been updated since July and I am curious about the progress that has been made.
-
pcercuei is travelling right now, I don't think he has regular Internet access for the time being.

Thanks for the information.

The basic support for the JZ4770 and GCW-Zero has been accepted upstream! It will be in 4.16.

The estimate date of the release firmware its around of november? im asking this because this a necrofag post and i doubt it xDDDDDD the developers needs more time to polish the firmware ...
-
Is there any backlog somewhere before a new Firmware?
Did everything get upstreamed to 4.16?
-
It's a good feeling that I joined this conversation. It's great.

What does this mean though? :)

Support for clocks, IRQs, pin control and GPIO, JZ4770 and GCW0 devicetree files are in the upstream kernel.

This all sounds good.
Just a question though...
Does everything in the upstream status have to be completed and upstreamed for a new firmware version to be realised or this already in the works? If so, what can we expect in a future FW release?
-
Thanksfully no. We don't need everything to be upstream to release a new firmware.
What you can expect: performance increase up to 10%, faster I/O to the SD cards, async memcpy, bicubic scaling on the IPU, BGR555 support for PSX emulation, and other things I forgot. Unfortunately no TV-out, HDMI or USB host yet.
-
Oh wow that sounds great. I didn't expect tv-out, HDMI or USB support yet, since those drivers have to written from scratch as far as I know, but this is very nice.
