Game Pencil Engine for the GCW
« on: June 15, 2014, 05:42:42 am »
Hello Zeroans,

Ever since seeing the GCW-Zero I've had great hope in it.

I realized shortly after receiving my Zero from KickStarter it was not met to it's full potential. With about 2000 people with GCWs around the world, it seemed like the majority of users simply wanted a nice emulation device. As an indie game developer, I feel there are tons of great indie games and apps that could reach the system if the process was a bit easier. Sure most people can just port things over to it using python or C/C++, but what about the scripters? Also, there really aren't tools to simply do this for more casual developers as well as small indie teams.

So, I decided to build my own engine to fill in this gap. Currently I'm developing an engine that will help people create games in a simply, easy and dynamic manner. In 2012 my KickStarter campaign for my own RPG game was funded for $1,000 and I've used a part of that money to purchase this device to port games onto as well as graphic art and music. Now we've ran out of money and so I'm raising funds to finish this engine as well as our games to be ported over to the GCW-Zero.

Currently, we have a Patreon Page up and if you can take a look. Consider backing the project.

Also, if you are not fond of the monthly support, you can pre-order the engine via PayPal on our Software Page.
Please let me know if you have any questions.

Sincerely,

Nathan Hurde

I don't quite understand.
Are you saying that you spent the money people gave you to buy gaming devices, and not to develop your game?
Did you finish your rpg?

Sorry, the word should've been "device", meaning the GCWZero.

I bought OUYA out of my paycheck.

Also, the RPG is still in development.

Also, the campaign made note of this ahead of time.

So what is this? Action sidescrolly engine that allows inventory and dialogue bits?

So you're essentially working on a castlevania 2 like engine? Apologies but your page is thin on information which puts me off on even considering giving money.

Sorry, the engine is a general engine. I'm currently using it to though to build my side-scrolling drama RPG; but the engine will support all genres and views(2d).

So,

I'm looking to make the engine export to the GCW0 for free.

However; the engine is not fully functional yet.
One thing I need help with is embedding a scripting language into the system.

Anyone have any ideas on this?

C++ is now the main language of editor, but current version has all things thru SDL2, but modular nature of engine will met me make some SDL1 backends and see how speeds go.Main concern is rendering rotated images tho...
