Dingux-int (Intellivision emulator) for GCW Zero
« on: January 13, 2014, 02:52:24 pm »
I tried the Dingoo version (Dingux-int) and it works on GCW Zero (it's enough to change the access permissions), but the emulator needs some optimizations (like remap the buttons and disable the CPU clock speed selector)... moreover it seems that the audio isn't enabled.
hereunder the link to the binary files and source-code:

I hope anyone is concerned with the porting... Thanks in advance for your attention! :)

PS: I made a new background (png 24 bit) and an icon (png 24 bit with trasparency)...

Is nobody interested in the Dingux-int porting?

Only if you consider that giving people 1.5 days to manifest interest between two posts is an accurate characterisation of everyone's interest, ever.

Yes, I know... but my "question" was a simple way to refresh the topic... obviously, there is no rush! ;)

I made a little modification to the background png (re-uploaded it on the first post), a better position for the GCW Zero logo...

First of all you consider that the emulator requires a good optimization for GCW Zero (this version was made for the Dingoo OD)... have you tried to change the access permissions of the "dingux-int" file ? The following link explains "what you got to do":
http://boards.dingoonity.org/gcw-general/(howto)-terminal-access-to-gcw0-using-telnet/msg75670/#msg75670

I did this

I used this procedure and the emulator runs on my GCW Zero... I don't know if this info can be useful: the access permissions code of my "dingux-int" file is "711".

I renew this topic with the wish that someone is interested in the optimization/porting of this emulator! :)

I really wish we get an Intellivision emulator for GCW-Zero.

Yes! :) The main CPU is the GI CP1610 @0,894 MHz  , a 16 bit micro-processor with 10 bit opcodes...

Works well for me- it's up and running on my Zero, minus the audio and ability to remap buttons as previously mentioned. Certainly a good start!

Yes, the "biggest issues" are the sound lack and the wrong keymap...

Uhm, for us dummies, can someone post a step by step how to get this to work.

I'd like to play Astrosmash on the toilet.   <:

At the first run the emulator creates the work-dir in the $HOME folder... so you need to put the Intellivision bios files in $HOME/.intel/bios folder... the bios files are three: exec.bin, game.bin, grom.bin
Now you are ready to launch the emulator (you can put the games ROMs where you prefer, the ROMs browser remembers the last used path).

PS: the latest [WIP] release is here: http://boards.dingoonity.org/gcw-development/intellivision-emulator-port-(wip)/
