Update: So after playing a while with the new D-Pad and Gameboy rubber membrane it's getting a bit better. I was able to do some Hadoken circle moves in Street Fighter, but it's still very hard to do them and most of the time I fail doing them. On the other hand I dont have any problems doing charging moves (for example Guiles Sonic Boom).

I'd love to replace my d-pad and buttons, but I'm terrified to open my Zero.  :(

Yesterday I opened my GCW again and put back the original GCW Zero membrane under my D-Pad. And now I think everything is fine. The controls feel precious, the diagonal inputs work fine and I am also able to do Special Moves and Hadokens, Shoryukens etc in Street Fighter. The 3d printed D-Pad is still far from perfect for Street Fighter games but for most other games it's good. Overall I am happy with it now :-)

By the way: I don't recommend the original Gameboy rubber membrane for the GCW Zero D-Pad. The inputs feel too hard with it and I also got problems with diagonal directions. But it's good enough to use it for the GCW Zero Buttons. The buttons feel really good with it.

Well after openeing my GCW Zero for 4-5 times now I can say: It's not that hard to do the 3D Buttons and D-Pad mod. You just have to be carefull and patient.

Ok. I need to update my opinion.

After a few months, my buttons (all of them) are loosing the colors and turning white... Incredible and sad, I'm tired of open my Zero. :'(

Tomorrow I upload my photos to show this problem.

That's interesting; according to their forums https://www.shapeways.com/forum/t/water-and-coloured-strong-and-flexible-plastic.54565/ the material (strong and flexible plastic) has a problem with fading colours from water and wear. Perhaps a different material should have been used? Someone also suggested lacquering it first.

That's a bummer, but I would say the quality of the feel and how they work matters most ? I was never a fan of the colors anyway.
I've seen people paint them, which looks amazing :)

I wonder if there's some clear stuff I can paint on them to protect from wear.  Any ideas?

Please contact Shapeways support for this problem. If more people experience colors degradation they might be able to offer a solution. Contacting them via social news networks will generate awareness.

Lacquering the 3D printed parts is probably the way to retain the colors.

@superfenix2020 I thought recently you updated to SNES buttons and a DS d-pad?... Did you switch back to the Wii classic controller Dpad?

Do you prefer one over the other?

Lacquering the 3D printed parts is probably the way to retain the colors.

I have some doubts about this lacquering so i will make some questions:

?Do i need to brush every 6 months lacquiring the 3d printed for the GCW Zero or perhaps its permanent?

?Where i can find a good Lacquering to my 3d parts to my GCW Zero?

Thats all the questions i need,Thank you so much and waiting for you reply.
