Animated Wallpapers ?
« on: August 12, 2010, 01:36:20 pm »
Hello people, i'm new here =)
I'm a Media Designer from Serbia and getting myself a dingoo,
and want to contribute to the community =)
Since my focus point is design, i'm not quite helpfull at programming.

Well, i've got 2 questions:

1. is it somehow possible to implement animated backgrounds in dingux? (either flash or coded)
the reason why i don't want gifs is the diversion in the backgrounds, like the one for HTC Desire.

2. in debian i have uSplash, is something like that possible for dingux? (so you don't see the verbose messages at bootup
    but instead a loading animation)

I'd appreciate any kind of help.

greetings,
            ~xiq

Flash, no

If you rewrote whichever menu you use enough it could have animated backgrounds though, would suffer from big slowdown if it was written badly, and say byebye to the 8 hour battery life :D

Go for it!

The guimenu "DinguxXMB" has an animated background.

But gmenu2x or dmenu don't have this.

Just a question, why do you want this?

Animations needs more battries, this lowers the standbytime and decreases the battries lifetime.

It's no good idea ... imho ;-).

just as a show off gimick, like compiz for linux or aero for windows xD
You should have an option to disable it in the menu, though.

Too bad, on the cellphone market flash (swf's) is used for all menu's etc,
maybe there's a chance to port a opensource swf player to dingux?
(I've seen some in the ubuntu repo)
