Title: sdlpal
Post by: zear on January 30, 2010, 04:55:20 pm
Here goes another port. This time it's sdlpal - an SDL-based reimplemention of the classic Chinese-language RPG "The Legend of Sword and Fairy" (仙剑奇侠传), also known as "Chinese Paladin".

In order to run the game you need the original datafiles from the DOS version of the game.
There is an English patch for the game, but unfortunately it's for the win95 version and doesn't fully work with sdlpal (can't give a certain item to a NPC and thus leave the first location).
You can get the English translation here: http://www.megaupload.com/?d=20BOH3YA

That looks like a cool game.To get around the issue with the English translation, couldn't you just play past the first area in Chinese, and then patch in the English version? Or are the saves incompatible?
