PocketSNES 2012-06-17
« on: June 17, 2012, 12:35:56 am »
Hi,

Here is a build of PocketSNES for OpenDingux (and OpenDingux only).

The new features since the old version on the native OS include:
- a mono / stereo switch,
- a couple of bug fixes on the menu,
- support for 50Hz PAL games.

Download here.
Sources available here.

Have fun!

It doesn't use my scaler. Actually I did remove the fullscreen option, as it was broken and didn't look really good on native OS...

Hi,

How do i get this to work?

It extracts to a file called pocketSNES-2012.06.17.tar.bz2.tar.bz2.tar

I rename it to Pocketsnes but when I select it the screen flashes and stays on the main screen.

Hellsing

Edit:  Sorted - tried a program called Universal Extractor and it extracted the structure correctly. 7-Zip in windows didn't extract it correctly.

7-zip works fine it's just archive in archive for him.

Have you updated your OD (both kernel and rootfs) to the yesterday's release?

Faster than any other SNES emu on legacy/OD before.

Lots of games are 50-60fps with 408Mhz.

You have to keep also .png files in the same folder where pocketsnes.dge is located.

Hi,

You need to have the .dge file and the other files which were included in the same folder. I think there were four files in total.

pocketsnes.dge
pocketsnes_bar
pocketsnes_header
pocketsnes_tile

Ayla,

Great release!!! One question... is anyone planning on porting over the Snes9x4D version to OpenDingux anytime soon? The reason I ask is that a few RPG's & its script text are only displayed properly within this emulator... such as Secret of Mana 2 for example.

Thanks again.

Did you know "porting" means that the source code must be available? I'm not aware of SiENcE having released it:
http://crankgaming.blogspot.co.uk/search/label/Snes9x

Shame, coz it was the only Snes emu supporting cheats, and it doesn't work in OD (see my compatibility list in page 2 of this thread).

The emu looks very nice! It really needs fullscreen and some wise guy's scaler and we are all set.

I have experienced some ugly noises when playing F-Zero or Mario Kart. Also the colors look weird on the menus and the games themselves. But hopefully that can be fixed. How can I help out with that effort?

Great job Ayla, as usual :)
