openMSX 0.10.0 for OpenDingux
« on: January 07, 2014, 10:29:25 pm »
Yesterday the openMSX team released version 0.10.0 of their MSX emulator, including a build for OpenDingux on the Dingoo A320 and compatible consoles.

You can find the full release notes here, below are the most relevant ones for the Dingoo:
  • improved TMS99X8/TMS9929 (MSX1) color palette
  • added cycle accurate VDP command engine timing
  • fixes in YM2413 emulation (FMPAC)
  • added support for a few more MegaROM mapper types
  • improved start-up performance (over 20% faster on Dingoo!)
  • further optimized CPU emulation
  • reduce input latency (poll host events more often and remove delays)
  • several additions and improvements in the OSD menu

You can download openMSX 0.10.0 from SourceForge via this link.

Happy MSX-ing!
(If you don't have any MSX software yet, you can download some nice homebrew games from the msxdev contest.)

No need to wait, openMSX has full support for disk images. But not all emulated MSX machines have a disk drive. You probably tried the C-BIOS machines, which do not have a disk drive.

If you want to run disk software, emulate another MSX machine (use the Hardware -> Change Machine option in the menu). For that you also need the BIOSes installed of these machines. More information in the FAQ: http://openmsx.sourceforge.net/manual/faq.html#roms
