NESEMU for DINGUX v0.2
« on: October 29, 2009, 02:57:03 am »
Hi i have updated the nesemu port!.

  Download

Here is the changelog

Nesemu for DINGUX v0.2
- Added fullscreen mode to video config using alekmaul's
scaler from mame4all, but slow downs the emu a bit so
you may want to play with the windowed mode for now.
- Removed palette and gui_input from config menu since
  they are not necessary (?).
- Merged joyrider's port changes to increase speed.
- Used -fprofile flags to optimize emu.
- Cleaned up code.

Well see ya!

Thanks for the update.  Just gave it a try and it's noticeably faster than the previous release.  There are still a few pauses\hickups while playing, but it's a lot better than before.

Looking forward to the next release!

Cheers to you the_gama!

I hope this version doesn't segfault under DMenu 0.4.

There are still a few pauses\hickups while playing, ...

Yes i haven?t found exactly what is causing this, but i found that it is related to sound.
Because they don?t seem to happen with sound disabled.

I always play without sound and still get the hickups.

We have almost solved the problem for Dmenu0.4, I bet the corrected version will be
released soon. Please be patient.

I mentioned a fix in the help section about that... I got it over in the old Dingoo a320 free forums before it was trashed. It was a few lines of code for text color that you put in the theme.cfg. Fixed Segfault for me.

Anywho. Nice job on the Emu! I love it. This removed another emulator off the the native OS for me to use. Only if there was a Dingux GBA emulator. One that was a little better that the Native one. Then I would never go back to native.

Hi, i  have been working on an update for NESEMU, merging the old 32 bit cache instead of the 64 bit one, which seems to be handled better by the dingoo but i got stuck with some alignment issues.

Anyway i was searching on the net the other day and found a more mature emulator called FCEUX which has a lot better compatibility than NESEMU, and was wondering if it would be better to try to port FCEUX rather than NESEMU?.

Pros: FCEUX is a more mature project, it has better compatibility, working nsf player, and also has fds support, supports zipped roms.
Cons: FCEUX has no gui and i don?t know if it will run faster than NESEMU.

What do you think?.

Hello! do you know about Nesterj ? maybe it  better emulator, it was ported to psp, you can look source code there:

http://www.psp-hacks.com/file/388
http://www.dcn.ne.jp/~otim2/nesterj/en/dl.html

if you can port this emulator to Dingoo it will be nice!

FceuX (FCEultra) is a good emulator too, so choose yourself, i don't know exactly what will be better for Dingoo - nesterJ or FceUltra

I agree with Long.  I think Nester would make for a better port.  I tend to prefer it over FCE, mainly due to compatibility and stability.  I'm not sure how they compare for resource requirements though.

The problem is porting NesterJ would take a lot more time, since it doesn?t have an SDL driver and does NesterJ really has better compatibility than the latest fceuX v2.1.2?.

The reason i thought about porting fceu was because of this thread http://forums.ngemu.com/misc-console-discussion/112674-best-nes-emulator-2.html.  Since Nestopia requirements are too hight for the little dingoo i thought the best choice would be fceu.

Is this actually any better than the native NES Emu?

I have no experience with the latest FCEUX release.  I'm certain that it still be a good emu to port.  I didn't realize that NesterJ lacked an SDL driver.

I say to dump Nestopia and start work on FCEUX.
