Dingux-Atari: Atari 800/130/5200 Emulator for Dingux v1.1.0

Hi All,

Atari800 is an emulator for the 800, 800XL, 130XE and 5200 models of the Atari personal computer.
It can be used on console, FrameBuffer or X11.
See http://atari800.sourceforge.net/ for further informations.

PSPATARI is a port on PSP of the version 2.0.2 (April 08 2006) of Atari800 from Petr Stehlik.
Dingux-Atari is a port on Dingoo/Dingux of the PSP version with some new features.

How to use it ? Everything is in the README.txt file.

Enjoy,

get it here http://zx81.zx81.free.fr/serendipity/

Anyone else getting a blue screen that says "!!! The Atari Emulator has crashed !!!" after trying to load any 5200 rom? It's strange because the BIOS doesn't show the entire year of the game. Actually, Ballblazer is the only game I've gotten to work. This shows the entire year in the BIOS startup. Any other game will show "Copyright 19  Atari" like it's missing the last two number of the year. Weirdness.

If your roms end in the a52 extension or zip you need to use the atari menu option then select cartridge management then insert cartridge then select the type of 5200 cart it is then select warm reboot. The only problem with this emu is getting the controls right its kind of a pain.

Good.  So it isn't JUST ME, then!!

I could only get the two files it came with to work...and also Xevious.a52 would load up but I could not make it "start" no button acted as start button.

Every other game I tried to load...I got this same crash screen.

On the other hand, I got Dingux-7800 to work fine.  This one emulates Atari 7800.

Well, that worked for Asteroids, now....but, again...NO FRIGGING START BUTTON!!

Dingux-7800 doesn't require this sort of a pain in the ass.

Well, it works for SOME games, got Berzerk to go fine, but same no start button problem...on the other hand, Centipede and Defender got the crash screen...but at least this time the title and year showed up under the Atari Logo...but still got the crash screen on those two games.

Sometimes you have to select 2 chip a5200 or single chip 5200 cart. Its hit or mess as far as the start buttons you can set those on a game to game basis in the emulator options. You are right atari 7800 is much easier. Zx81 just released a ti-99 emulator it is very nice check out my post. There is a couple of issues with it though

Yeah, that definitely made the emulator work. But I now have the same problem as Kilisiin and can't find a START button. I opened up the keyboard and pressed L to change the keyboard so the START would show up but that didn't even work. I do agree with Kalisiin that this emulator is a bit of a pain in the ass--especially since it's emulating an archaic system. I think if it was solely a 5200 emulator it wouldn't be dealing with all these menus and options. Oh well :)

For reset and start you need to map the keys atari_start and atari_reset. I'm going to try to convert the files to atr or bin so I don;t have to use the atari menu. I wondering if renaming them would work. I'm going to try I will get back to you.

Try it and let us know...

BUT...I do n't see anywhere,.....in any menu...how the hell to set a "START" key or anything that even remotely LOOKS like it might be helpful.

This emulator is a severe pain in the ass.

One menu gives me choices like to set volume...this is the same menu that also lets you into the Atari menu....

Nothing in the Keyboard or Joystick or other settings appears to be at all helpful...nor is anything in the menu you get in the Atari Blue Screen for controller configuration or emulator configuration....THERE IS JUST NOTHING THAT LOOKS LIKE YOU CAN SET SOMETHING AS A FREAKING START BUTTON!!

I HATE THIS EMU....IT SUCKS.

I'll appreciate that, but I'm at work and can't download anything now, I'll have to wait till I get home in the morning to try it.

But let me know if it all works or WTF is up.

I'm more than half inclined to just chuck this one and go with just 7800.

Thanks.
Would you mind giving instructions along with the PM...as far as where to install this cfg file...where in the directory I mean...and then how to access it, and how to use it, etc etc etc.

I'm a serious newbie at this stuff, I keep amazing myself that I'm actually able to make anything work at all.

The kbd file goes in the kbd directory and the .set goes in the set directory I noticed that he has the x and a buttons mapped to the y and b buttons and the secondary file does not work. I will let him know about this. Make sure you remove the .txt extension from the files I attached. It wont let me post the files with the default extension

OK, thanks.
After doing that, is there anything else I need to do?
And what button acts as the start button then?

x and a are going to be the keys you need to start games. b & y are fire buttons. But like i said i dont think the secondary fire button is working right. I sent to message to zx81 and let him no about the problem with the buttons being switched

OK, thanks, Driller.

+1 karma to you for your help...I'd give ya ten if it would let me.

Did you find out anything about .bin and .atr files with this EMU?

Mine are all .A52, I wonder if you can just change the extension...or not.

when i changed the extensions it did not find the roms files at all within the emulator. So i'm going to find a set that are in executable or tape format aka atr or bin
