[NEW UPDATE] Oldplay v1.12 for Dingux
« on: April 23, 2010, 04:21:15 am »
Hi, here it is, another update for OldPlay :).

NEW Download: Oldplay for Dingux v1.12
   Download: Oldplay for Dingux v1.11
   Download: Oldplay for Dingux v1.10

   Download: Version 1.12 Source Code

* Please copy all the files contained in the oldplay folder *

For more info go here.

Here is the changelog:

Version 1.12

- Fixed transparent zip support using blargg's great
File_Extractor Library, which also supports other
compressed formats like gzip, rar, 7zip, among others.
  * NOTE: Many rar and 7z files needs a lot of ram to be
uncompressed, so i recommend using zip instead *
- Added tta plugin.
- Added wavpack plugin.
- Added support for .mp4 and .m4a extensions in the faadplugin.
- Reduced executable size.
- Fixed mp3 bus error/seg fault issue when trying to load
  a second song.
- Replaced mad plugin with a new one based on mpg123.

-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Version 1.11

- Added aac plugin based on FAAD2.
- Added SC68 plugin.
  * Please copy the Replay folder and the config.txt file */
- Fixed error when searching for TFMX sample files in UADE.
- Fixed subtune support in UADE.
- Fixed audio issue when song ended in UADE.
(But is still present in subtunes  :-[).
- Switched to stereo sound in UADE.
- Added HOLD switch support, by default when you press it
the keys will be locked and the screen will turn off.

-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Version 1.10

- Added UADE plugin :).
  * To play an amiga song using the UADE plugin
you need to copy the players folder and the score,
uaerc, eagleplayer.conf and uade.conf files included
in the oldplay folder.  Also you don't need to change
the names of the songs since the plugin should handle
    prefix extensions too. *
- Added new ST-Sound plugin.
- Added new Hively Tracker plugin.
- Added song description tags in vgmstream plugin.
- Added a formats database (formats.db) for vgmstream and UADE plugins.
  * Basically is a file that includes a list of all supported
extensions by these plugins.  They support a LOT of
formats (~350 by UADE and ~250 by vgmstream) and i
haven't tested all of them, so some may not work. *

TODO
-----

- Port remaining plugins.
- Reduce executable size ...
- Fix battery level indicator (?).
- Help me think of something :).

This is the default key configuration for those who didn't
use the first verison:

No problem, i do it because really like game music :).  By the way i just fixed some bug with the TFMX player from UADE when
loading sample files, and the sound issue when a tune finishes playing.   And also i will give another try to use the HOLD
switch to lock keys and turn off screen.

Besides that i don't really know if anyone is interested in the remaining plugins: tta, wavpack, etc.

As a daily oldplay user, I can say I'm not really interested in loseless formats, only oldschool ones (and oldplay does that so well !)

Thank you for the great work!

Thanks, i'm not interested in lossless formats either but i guess i will add them to complete the port.   And do you know
of other oldschool formats that can be added?.  I have a couple of plugins that i can port from my PSP player, like sc68 and s98.

Also since the executable size is getting really big i guess i will try to switch do dynamic plugins for the next release :).
Please let me know of other plugins you would like to see in oldplay.

I'd like to have mp3 tags unicode support. If not automatic - at least let choose font and desired codepage.
Thank you in advance.

UNICODE support would be nice, but i really have no idea how to handle it on Linux and if
Dingux already support Unicode characters.  Well i'm talking about Unicode filenames, because
displaying Unicode tags should be posible with SDL_ttf i guess.

But it would be nice to display unicode filenames, anyone knows if it is posible on Dingux?
Oldplay currently uses the opendir, readdir functions to list files in a folder, is there something similar
to handle unicode filenames?

If Dingux already supports that i can take some time to add Unicode support to Oldplay.

OK i decided to release a quick update for OldPlay ;).  Please see the the original post for the changelog.
And sorry but i decided to give up on UNICODE, because it would be too much work i think, but if someone
probes it isn't i guess i can give it a try.

Well i hope you enjoy the new version :).

First of all, thanks for the update, the_gama. I tried one of the new formats and work well.
But I have problems with zip files. When I run a compressed file it goes to gmenu2x and gives me this message via telnet:

FileList::AddDirectory - Opening /usr/local/music
zip_list = (nil)
Segmentation fault
/boot/local/apps/oldplay # exit

Am I doing something wrong?
Not very important, because not much space saved by compressing.
Anyway, with all that is coming out lately any savings is good.
Sorry for my bad english and thanks for the hard work.

I installed the new version 1.11 when I saw that it has AAC support - the majority of my collection is in the AAC format. But none of my songs are showing up... the *.mp3 songs do appear but the *.m4a songs do not.

I have all my music in /boot/local/music and I did set that as the directory in the config file. The mp3 songs play correctly of course, so I'm sure everything is working normally, except the aac music.

Is there something I need to do in the configurations, to have the *.m4a files appear?

Thanks!

Ok, i managed to get zip working :).  But there are better news, i did it using blargg's great File_Extracor library which
supports a lot of compressed formats: zip, tar, gz, rar, 7z, etc.  so most of them should work.  Rar and 7zip needs a lot
of ram so i don't know if the dingoo can handle them, but maybe some rsn (rar) snes soundtracks will work, but zips are
working really nice.

I used the zipped 2a03 nsf archive (around 8 MB) for testing and browsing through all those files and folders
was quite fast ;).
