Problems using local pack 0.33c
« on: January 02, 2010, 07:57:33 pm »
I've installed dual boot and local pack 0.33c, dingux starts up properly but very few of the applications work ok for me, just the spectrum emulator and one of the games, super methane bros. Mame starts up but says there are no roms available, even though i have some roms in the roms folder of it, and most other applications wont even start up! I use dmenu 0.3 as none of the more recent versions will start up dingux for me. Do i have to download any other files to get it working properly? Any help would be gratefully recieved.

How do you have installed the pack, if you say, you use dmenu 0.3?
The 0.33c pack includes the latest dmenu (0.5 if I recall correct) and eltas rootfs, in fact it has everything you need, to get it working, included.
Just copy the local folder, the zimage and the rootfs to your card. If you have some roms in your emulator folder, copy them to another destination first and then copy them back.

I originally installed the pack as it was, but for some reason dingux wouldnt start up with it as it was, so i changed the main file to the one from dmenu 0.3. Dingux worked properly then. Just tried replacing the dmenu to the one that was originally in the local pack, it boots up dingux now but i still have the same problems, most of the games and emulators dont work at all.

You might want to try a later version of Dmenu (0.6) with the default theme and see if that works for you.

I guess you have a 16GB card, right? On some cards, it is for some reason necessary to put first the zimage and the rootfs on the card and then, after that, the local pack.

Nope, i tried it with a 4gb card and a 2gb card at different times with the same results. Will try it again following your instructions and see if it works.

What did you do? Use the dmenu 0.6 file or copy the zimage and rootfs first?

Copied the zimage and rootfs first.
