I need help installing new emulators on dingux
« on: January 31, 2011, 02:50:07 pm »
Hi guys just got a dingoo a330 with dingux already installed , this is the first time ive owned a portable emulator and would have to say im very impressed , i will however confess to being a bit of a div when it comes to the technical side of moving and installing files , i managed to figure out how to install roms on the dingux boot up of mame and also the nes emulater nofrendo my problem being some how ive managed to balls up the snes9x emulator and picco drive ive tried copying over the programs with new downloaded files of these emulators but have failed, so i want to install another megadrive and snes emulator but have no idea where all the differant files need to be for it to be accessible from the dingux emulator menu which i beleive is called gmenu2x (could be wrong). if anybody could sort me out a step by step guide to installing picco drive and snes9x id really appreciate it thanks in advance.
just to clarify its a dingoo a330 already installed with dual boot dingux.

copy executable/whatever to sd card (somewhere under local/games/wherever/you/feel/like/putting/it)
press select, choose add link, rest is pretty straight forward
if the emulator needs a filename to launch (you'll know when it doesn't work), you need to enable the rom chooser, and select the starting rom directory for it (in select->edit link surprisingly)

This should have gone in the Dingux emulation board, not the native OS board.

Anyway, just copy over the files from your PC to the SD card. And on the Dingoo in gmenu2x press Select, Add Link, blah blah what darfgarf said.

And you'll probably want to use the native NES and GBA emulators for most things instead of the ones on Dingux. Also the native movie player.

(Lol, last time I said a topic belonged in the Help board, but it was moved to Emulation. Now I said this belongs in Emulation board, and it's moved to Help! I'm all mixed up! :P)

good point should of thought about what i was asking lol. still having problems though what would i have to do if i installed say fusion megadrive emulator as it seems i cant repair the other , id of thought you would take a copy of the zipped file in local/emulators but when i load up dingux in the emulator menu there is no icon to select for me to press select on to add a link , sorry if its an easy process but i really am unfamiliar with file moving/unzipping ect.

Once you have copied over the unzipped stuff to the emulators folder on the SD card, press select while in the gmenu, and go to Add Link. Then go to the folder you copied on there and choose the dge. This is how you add an icon/link to the menu.

i downloaded a fresh picodrive emulator in local/emulator via pc and when i press select on the dingux gmenu i pressed add link to emulator then went in emulator file then found my picodrive file opened that and selected picodrive.dge like you said but no new icon appears am i missing something or is there differant downloads for both dingoo models (perhaps i have the wrong one) i do still have an icon from the non working picodrive would that have anything to do with the non appearing icon?
