Hi everyone, after seeing how much trouble some are having with the dual boot loader, and having searched for a few hours myself trying to find my solution, I decided to compile a list of all the known problems installing the dual boot loader and their discovered solutions.  Please post if you think of any I missed, and if you have a new problem, tell us all the info you can!  Hopefully we can help you find a solution.

• First, make sure you have downloaded the most recent dual boot installer from Here.
• Second, find out your LCD type.  In the Native Dingoo firmware, go to System Setup -> About and press up, right, down, up, right, down.  Your LCD type is listed in the 3rd line - Look for ILI9331 or ILI9325.  Write this number down.

I. I can't get my Dingoo into USB Mode!

• Note that you cannot tell visibly whether the Dingoo is in USB mode or not - the screen will remain blank for the duration of USB mode.
• Note that the USB Mode referred to here is not the same as the "drag and drop" mode which shows the USB cable on the screen of the Dingoo.
• Most people enter USB mode on their Dingoo by holding down 'B' and pressing the reset button.  HOWEVER, in a few cases, it has been reported that the user can only enter USB mode by holding down 'B' and the Power Switch for a few seconds.  As far as I can tell, the vast majority of Dingoos use B+reset -- B+power is the minority.  As far as we can tell, there isn't any notable hardware or software difference which causes this (correct me if I'm wrong).  In conclusion, if one way doesn't work for you, try the other.
• As always, ensure your battery is charged.  Not only will having a low battery keep you from entering USB mode, if you are right on the edge, you risk bricking your Dingoo by it dying during the installation of the dual-boot loader.

II. The dual-boot installer gives an error
1.) Which Operating System are you using?  Windows XP has been known to be the most painless version of Windows to use for this process, but each OS has its own caveats.  Read below.

• Windows (any) - ensure 1 that you have removed/disabled any drivers containing the words Chinachip.  These are the drivers for the native Dingoo OS and have been known to cause problems when trying to connect in USB mode to flash the dual boot loader, and 2 that you have correctly installed the USB mode drivers included in the dual-boot loader zip file linked above.
• Windows x64 (Vista and 7) - Microsoft has required in its 64 bit operating systems that every driver MUST be signed.  Some drivers, such as our dingoo USB-mode driver, as well as x64 peer guardian releases, are not signed because these authentication signatures cost money.  In order to make use of these drivers and successfully connect to your Dingoo, you must restart your computer, press f8 during bootup and at the boot options menu, choose Disable Driver Signature Enforcement.  If you need to do this every bootup, I've heard of people disabling it permanently, but as you will only need to install the boot loader once (hopefully), that will probably not be necessary for most people.
• Mac OS X - This may sound silly, but ensure that you are using the osx tool included in the zip file, not the windows or linux tool.  Since most of the guides written for this are written for windows users, the copy-paste lines usually refer to the windows boot loader tool.
• Linux - See above OS X, and I'm assuming if you are proficient enough to use linux with success, you aren't having problems with your OS...

2.) Ensure you are in the correct directory

3.) Ensure you have copied the command line exactly if you have copied it from a guide.  Check your memory addresses.


III. The installer says its successful, but my Dingoo stays on a black screen!
Here we enter the realm of speculation.  There are various solutions to this problem that have been found.  I'll do my best to name them all.

• Check the amount of free space on your Dingoo on-board memory.  I'm not sure what the minimum space required is, but I had 3 MB free in my Dingoo and that was the problem keeping it from installing the boot loader on mine.  If you are unsure, just back everything up onto your hard drive and delete all the roms or other files you have.
• Try toggling the Disk Immunity Option in the Native Dingoo firmware (System Setup -> Disk Immunity).  This didn't make a difference for me, but some have reported it being enabled caused problems with the installer.
• Ensure that you aren't running any custom firmwares (i.e. you ARE running an authentic Dingoo firmware).  If you are unsure, just search for the latest official Dingoo firmware and install it over whatever you have.
• Some have reported that they needed to run the second command of the dual-boot installer a few times before it worked...
• Some have reported that the screen didn't change to the dual boot install interface until they disconnected their Dingoo from the computer.

Nothing suggested here worked for me. Turned Udisk protection off, put it in usb mode with the power switch and B instead of reset-B, ran the second command a couple times in a row, unplugged the USB cable... screen stays black, and once reset, the Dingoo runs fine, just no dual boot option. Dismayed. Here is my post on the subject in another forum:

OK, I've been trying to flash my Dingoo to put Dingux on it. I've got the Dingoo in USB mode, have the right drivers installed, tried it on Mac and PC, and I get the same results.

That's as far as I get. The Dingoo screen never shows the flash script running - stays black. The Dingoo itself is unharmed - boots up just fine. I got this one from ThinkGeek. Perhaps they now have the thing write protected? Anyone else run into this?

Same thing happened to me. Got it on the 3rd try. Keep repeating the procedure, it will stick eventually.

Hi, I'm new to both Dingoo, the Dingoo community and Dingoonity, but here goes.

If you still don't get the flasher screen on your Dingoo (after executing the second line in the command shell) you might want to consider the fact that you might have to use both B+Reset and B+On/Off for it to work. I installed the Dual Boot Loader onto an A320-unit yesterday (ILI9331_3) and as it was my first Dingoo I followed the steps in the Idiot's Guide. After a few hours of fail I found a method that worked, I followed the guide EXACTLY until Step 2 under "Flash firmware". Instead of the instructions in Step 2 I reconnected the Dingoo to the PC before entering USB Boot Mode and I had to do that by using B+On/Off instead of B+Reset (although I had to use B+Reset earlier throughout the same guide, redid it all with only B+On/Off later on and then it didn't work).

Also, I did it from a PC running Windows 7 and did not remove/uninstall the original China Chip Drivers prior to installing the new ones from the Dual Boot folder. I'm not into flashing or hacking so I don't know if this could cause any future problems but I managed to install both the Dual Boot Loader, Dingux and GMENU2X so hopefully it should not corrupt later on because of that.
