dingux splash screen is all i see...never boots
« on: October 17, 2009, 02:55:31 pm »
hello all,
great new board and what exciting times w/ all these releases!  anyways i have a problem.  In attempts to get MPlayer running in dingux, I copied over the modified zImage file.  Ever since I've done that when I try to boot into dingux it just sits at the DINGUX splash screen.  I figured my sd card was then corrupted, so I re-formatted and re-copied over local 0.31.  Still, it just sits there at the DINGUX splash screen.  Anyone understand what is going on?
thank you very much

See if official fimware sees the card. If it doesn't, dingux won't boot.

The same thing has happened to me. Dmenu doesn't boot up.

I reformatted the SD card to FAT32. Once with Disk Utility on my Mac and then I tried using command lines with Terminal. Still, all I get is the Dingux logo.

ok mine is fixed.  i reformatted my sd card using gparted (in linux).  this seems to have fixed the issue.  so thank u all for your help.  s3rris...make sure you write a fresh ms-dos partition table and then create a new partition and format it as fat32.  i dunno, this is what worked for me...although the first time i did it, which i did using windows, it didn't work.  so who knows.  hope u get yours working.

I was having problems like that. You usually just have to reformat the card. Make sure you install the latest Dingux dualboot and zimage/kernel. The old one causes corruption problems.

Once the following helped me (i think the order is imported):
Reformat the SD in fat32 (no quickformat)
First copy zImage
Second copy rootsfs
Third copy local directory

Hoi there friends! please HELP MEH! i'm getting stuck in the DINGUX splash screen for ever. the lcd model it's an ILI9338 an i'm using the latest rootfs.bin file and zImage for ILI9338 that i've got on the http://www.treewalker.org/opendingux/ and the SiENcE local minimum pack.

how i've done the whole stuff:

1- Flashed the dingoo a320 using the "auto dual boot by Xiq" in my lcd model (ILI9338).
2- Formated my 2gb sd card in the windows (fat32 slow format).
3- Transfered the zImage for the card.
4- Transfered the rootfs.bin for the card.
5- Transfered the LOCAL folder for the card .
6- used JK Defrag in the rootfs.bin on the card.
7- unplugged the dingoo from my usb...
8- GOT ANGRY 'COZ I CAN't DO IT!

Everything went alright during the flash, i've done the process of transfering the files lots of times with diferent kernels just to see if something happens but i'm still stuck in the GODDAMNED dingux slpash screen.
can someone help meh?
thx!  ;D

The issue 99% of the people have here is that Windows hides the file extensions. Please enable showing file extensions when you rename the files and make sure you rename to "zImage" and "rootfs.bin" rather than "zImage.bin" and "rootfs.bin.bin".

Maybe that the needed files should be made available from treewalker as a zip archive that contains the needed file already correctly named :

for example : http://www.treewalker.org/opendingux/opendingux-kernel.2012-06-16.ili9325.zip with a file named zimage within

and : http://www.treewalker.org/opendingux/opendingux-rootfs.2012-06-16.zip with a file named rootfs.bin within.

That way, user will just have to unzip and copy the file directly on the sd card without the hassle of renaming.
Anyhow, the zip will still show user the LCD controller and release date.

Anyway, i'm not sure SiENcE local minimum pack is opendingux related (it may be only usefull with dingux legacy but correct me if I'm wrong).
