Dingux Power Off
« on: October 20, 2009, 07:31:45 pm »
Using the power off option is dmenu seems to shutdown and then hang at "You can safely turn off the power". Using the power button on the dingoo does nothing to fix this.

Only way I have found to power down is select reboot in dmenu and then shut off the power when it boots in the the native os.

Anyone else having this issue?

Do you have the zImage with poweroff enabled?

Shutdown no longer works with the new zImage released today.
"You can safely turn off the power"

I guess there is no fix for that? Well, I'm going back to the old image.

It's not new zImage, its modification date is still 08/13/2009. If you wanna enable
the power off function, feel free to use the modified version.

I had thought that the reason that the power off feature wasn't incorperated yet into the official zImage was because more testing wanted to be done to ensure that the a320 was actually getting powered off and not going into a standby/hibernate state and thus wasting battery life when you think it is off?  I think I read that as one of the "issues" on the google code page for dingux...

You can check it yourself. The most easiest way is to use the battery meter in
Snes9x.

I think it really powers off then. I can see that the screen completely turns off after fading to black (turn it off at night to see). Sometimes I forget to turn the Dingoo off when it's in native firmware "mode". Screen turns off (screensaver). Next morning I touch the D-pad and it awakes. And then it turns out that the battery is not really drained. So even if it does hibernate, the Dingoo seems in "off" mode because of the little amount of battery power it uses. :)
Finally got me a new Dingoo after I Kentucky ~~::fried::~~ the other one. Yippee! [edit] And lost it!

ooops... my mistake due too messy homedir :D ...
with the modified image, it still works like a charm.
I wonder why toddler doesn't include that in his package anymore...

Where do you get this modified version?
Does it make the power actually go off, just using the power switch or what?

What's the deal, do you just have to replace your zImage file?

To be sure, you have compiled the latest zImage yourself with the right code snippet in it?

-> http://code.google.com/p/dingoo-linux/issues/detail?id=36#c2

Maybe the user "vimrc" from the freeforums will tell, he made the zImage with power off support.
