Best Football / Soccer game playable in Dingux
« on: June 29, 2010, 12:10:45 am »
Ok so it's world cup time an all that, a bit late I know.

But just wondering what people regard as the best football game available that is playable on any of the many Dingux emulators. I've downloaded many and can't say any have been very good.

Ideas?

Haven't tried that many but Sensible Soccer is available on many platforms. The best version is probably Sensible World of Soccer 96/97 Euro edition for the Amiga. It runs quite well on the uae4all emulator

Maybe Microprose soccer or emlyn hughes soccer for c64 for classic stuff.. and of course Sensible Soccer for Amiga.

Hey mrkingoo - have you managed to get SWOS 96/97 running in Dingux? If so, care to share your configs/instructions etc?
I've been playing the MegaDrive version of Sensible Soccer with acceptable frame rates etc, but Amiga SWOS would be awesome!

There was a great top-down soccer game for PSX made with net yaroze. Anybody remembers? It was a free fan-made game so I thought if somebody remembered the title, maybe we could get hold of the author and maybe the source too. It should be pretty easily portable to dingux... It is 2D and used sony's net yaroze sdk so probably no low-level hardware stuff.

I found it. It's name is "Total Soccer". Unfortunately it's a bit 3d (but still top-down) but what's worse it requires a lot of scaling for the zoom-in/out's. I still think it's worth a look. I'll try contacting the author.

Correction I meant SWOS 96 Euro edition. I dont think the 96/97 version works on uae4all but any other SWOS version should run.

First you need the uae4all emulator http://chui.dcemu.co.uk/uae4all.html. You also need a Amiga kickstart rom the A500 1.3 version (search the internet), rename it kick.rom and place it in the uea4all directory. And of course the SWOS adf disk images place them wherever you want preferably in the uae4all dir. Dont forget to overclock Uae4all to at least 400MHz to get acceptable speed

Start uae4all. You can have both disks loaded simultaneously: Select the first disk and then select the second by pressing Y (instead of A). Then select Run to run the game. Press start for superthrottle to speed up loading times. In  SWOS 96 Euro you have to decrease throttle to something like 40 or 20 and frameskip at 1 or maybe 2 to get rid of image flicker and get decent speed

If you're looking for a more modern game (sensi soccer is ace but very old school) then give the FIFA series a go on GBA emulation.
I like '05 and '06 as they run best, '04 doesn't have through-balls or a modifier button so doesn't play like modern FIFA/Pro Evo games

ISS on GBA is pretty poor but worth a go on Snes
Handhelds:
GPD Win, GPD XD 64gb, Pap KIII-Plus, RS-97, RS-90, New Bittboy, 3DS XL, DSi XL, GBA SP, GBBC Clone, Gameboy Pocket, PSP Go,
PC:
HP Envy M6, Acer 522, Dell Mini 9
Psion 5 & 5MX
Tons of other old laptops and tablets.....
