Prince of Persia 1 & 2 Macintosh versions
« on: May 07, 2011, 11:15:51 am »
In my opinion best versions of Prince of Persia 1 and Prince of Persia 2: The Shadow and the Flame are on Macintosh. Is it possible a Dingux port?

The SNES versions are almost the same as the Mac versions. And the PC version of PoP2 is the same as the Mac version if I'm not mistaken.

PoP2 on the SNES misses the last epic "M.C Escher" level (with the spider etc.). I've gotten the DOS version of PoP2 working under DosBox, be it w/ laggy sound just like all Dosbox games...

And, indeed, PoP 1 and 2 are the best games ever deviced by man. The follow ups suck big time as far as I'm concerned. Far too repetitive and not at all epic.
Finally got me a new Dingoo after I Kentucky ~~::fried::~~ the other one. Yippee! [edit] And lost it!

On Snes only Prince of Persia can be defined a really good conversion. It has extra levels and good graphic overall. The second chapter (The Shadow and the Flame) is indeed a terrible game. There is also a Genesis prototype version which runs on Picodrive but together with the Snes version it is really subpar, especially in the sound department, paragoned to the Dos or the Macintosh version. For me Prince of Persia 2 is a "must play game" only on Dosbox. However on the Macintosh it looks even better than the Dosbox version. Take a look at the screenshoots on Mobygames and let me know.

I can't find screenshots of PoP2 on Mobygames.

On Mobygames search for Prince of Persia 2 and you can find a lot of screenshots of the game, included the Mac version. If i am not wrong there are also some vids on youtube.

The original Gameboy version is surprisingly accurate as well, has all the smooth animation and feels just like the other ports.
