port request: Might and Magic VI-VIII engine rewrite
« on: August 18, 2014, 01:05:04 pm »
According to their facebook page they are going to release an executable sooner or later. They have been experimenting with different GUIs as well as contents on the Might and Magic 8,5 project page. It's basically a launcher for the 3DO games with need for datafiles.

To me it seems quite possible resizing the 640x480 bitmap graphics to half. Also mapping the controls incorporating use of some shift button when switching to round based battle would be necessary.

(I don't have any valid experience coding. If someone would like to do it, I'd help where I can.)

They use Direct3D for the renderer, thus at least for this reason it's not portable to Linux platforms.

On their Infopage it says OpenGL is also supported.
"This is a remake of the original New World Computing engine used in Might and Magic 6, 7 and 8.
Developed in C++, DirectX, OpenGL, new engine extends capabilities of of it's predecessor."

I've asked them on facebook chat and was told to go ahead.
