How to run programs that are not present in the menu...
« on: November 03, 2009, 08:07:01 pm »
I'm using the latest pack (32a) but I've just downloaded the latest Atari emulator and the Giana Sisters game. How do I run them? I'm guessing it involves typing something in but I really don't know how to do this... Can anyone help?

I usually just use the file explorer (Far right (System menu),  Down twice, Press A) and browse to the folder (by pushing right on the D-pad) containing what i wish to run. As i have not got to grips with creating my own menu entries yet.

EDIT: Everything use filed under the "/usr/local/" folder.

You have to edit the menu_emulators.cfg file for the emulators, and add an entry like this:

Quote
MenuItem Atari7800
{
Icon = "res/emulators/7800.png"
Name = " Atari 7800"
Executable = "./dingux-7800"
WorkDir = "/usr/local/emulators/7800"
}

That's only valid for native software, he speaks about Dingux menu.

Yes, this is what I was looking for. I was worried I was gonna mess it up somehow, lol. I'll give it a whirl.

1) There is no Dingux menu. Be sure to distinguish DMenu and DinguXMB.
2) It is valid for both Dmenu and DinguXMB: both can browse the SDCard and run applications. ;) However, DMenu (0.3 anyway) won't run the applications in the correct working dir.
Write/save problems? Segmentation faults? Black screens? Read the Troubleshooting and FAQ guide first to fix your issues! :)
SD Card readonly/corruption issues? Chkdisk /F and steer clear from DMenu: use GMenu instead!
