A hexagonal map naturally would need a 6 way d-pad.
I realize with a 4 direction d-pad you could only navigate along 2 of the 3 axes.
Assuming horizontal hex strips, what's a most acceptable way to implement full map navigation?
Use 2 more keys for the 3rd axis?
Use a modifier key to toggle which vertical axis is active?
Walk vertically along spine, consistently pick left/right hex of spine
Try to to anything/everything possible to avoid navigating in the hex grid.
I'm guessing this situation is where a touch screen/analog sticks really help.
