These local packs are nothing but a collection of games and apps for lazy people. They are old and out of date, and come with a bunch of stuff you might not want. You can easily just search out the latest files, games, and apps you want and install them yourself, which is also just a matter of drag and drop. There is no need to mess around with these local packs.

Localpack 0.35 and Santino's V2 include many old, out of date programs and are missing many newer things (especially Santino's, since it's older). They also come with an old obsolete zImage.

(I'm SO sorry for bumping this ancient topic, but I need this issue resolved before my trip!)

eDuke32 just does not work. I've downloaded the duke3d.grp from [Link removed] and placed the file in the eDuke32 folder in /Games. Here's a pic: http://i54.tinypic.com/2e1rndw.png

Am I putting this in the wrong place? Whenever I select Duke on the gmenu2x Games list, it just shows the terminal for about 1 second and then goes back the Game page. Could someone please enlighten me? Thanks!

I have no idea why you'd choose this topic for your question...  ???

You need to remove that link to the grp files. That's totally illegal and can get you banned from the board.

Anyway, it looks like you downloaded the source files instead of the actual binary?

Go here: http://boards.dingoonity.org/dingux-releases/eduke32-release-3/

I believe that's the latest version of the port.

Once you have that downloaded you can delete the archive that's labeled as "src.tar.bz2". Just put the grp file in the eduke32 folder, put the folder on your card, then in gmenu2x make a link to the dge file (which is also in the folder). Once you start playing, you may have some problems with crashing on some levels if you don't have swap enabled (unless you have a DT-A330 using the proper 64MB RAM bootloader and kernel). Search the forums about swap.

It's exactly like Jesse said.
Besides, I put a readme.txt into the archive FOR A REASON ;)
