Dgfrontier 0.4 on OpenDingux
« on: December 01, 2013, 06:58:38 am »
I'm just wandering if someone could recompile this great game for OpenDingux. Reason I ask is, because it's now the only reason I still have to have Legacy Dingux on another memory card, everything else I needed was ported over. Here are the links to the Dingux binary and sources, plus the original thread. I'd really appreciate it if this could be done.
Thanks in advance.

Pcercuei has made a vastly superior port: https://github.com/pcercuei/glfrontier
It's mainly targeting GCW Zero, however it should be easily portable to A320.

Thanks for the link Zear, I'll have a look at it. D_Skywalk did a pretty good job of utilizing the A320's keys, and the game plays pretty much perfect. In the meantime I managed to finally retire the extra memory card with Legacy on it. I just used scripts to boot into Legacy from OpenDingux on the same card, and vice versa. It works fine, can't believe I didn't think of it before.
Cheers.

Neat, could you share the scripts you used to accomplish this? Also, how is the directory structure set up?

Is there still a problem with the copy protection on this? Seem to remember it being unplayable without a savegame or some way to enter certain keyboard characters.

I just press the 'start' button to skip the police harassment (copy protection) when I land at a trading post, and not had an issue yet. The 'start' key appears to be button 'P' which would mean 'pander' to police. When i pressed a key other than 'start' on three occasions, I got hit with the screen about stealing.

Thanks a lot for this Reesy, very much appreciated. It works fine. I am running it at 480mhz (although I suspect this isn't a true speed as my a320 falls over at 448mhz in Native) and the speed is fine. If you want a much smoother experience, just switch the shape details to 'medium'.
Thanks again.

good tip about the details setting ( press the pause button for anyone who's not found the settings page yet ), Thanks.  I set mine to low and switched off clouds, space dust and distant stars and it was then running at an acceptable speed.

Yeah, no problem. I'm away at the moment, but I'll upload them hopefully at the weekend.
