Title: [Request] Sqrxz
Post by: spn-x on August 20, 2011, 09:21:47 am
Hey,

today I saw a video review of the caanoo and the guy did show some homebrews. And one of them was "Sqrxz".
A cool little Jump'n'Run. It's already ported to Pandora, Wiz and Caanoo, so I thought it would be really cool to play the game on my Dingoo.

If there is anybody out there who knows how to port games to the dingoo, please give it a try.

The official site : http://www.sqrxz.de/ (http://www.sqrxz.de/)

A video for those who don't know the game :

Oh, OK.... So the original programmers would have to port the game ?
I think I'll send them an eMail about that.

just saw this on the "about-page" :

Quote
Anthony Staude (Slaanesh) – Dingux, GP32

but didn't find anything on slaanesh's page.

edit.: some more :

Quote
Sqrxz uses code of the following Open-Source projects in an unmodified form: SDL, SDL_Mixer, libmodplug and zlib - you can get the source code of the mentioned libraries by visiting the respective homepage, as we do use the official standard versions. The use of those libraries is also promoted with a screen “ingame”. If anyone wants to have the object files, feel free to ask.

I've been asking for a sqrxz port ever since the game was announced, but I only got a reply that Slaanesh - the guy responsible for a dingux port of Giana's Return, an other game by the same team - was also "contracted" for sqrxz. The problem was he had no time to work on it and he generally disappeared from the scene. I wouldn't be surprised if the sqrxz port is still pending. Although now the authors could perhaps "contract" someone else to do it.

BTW, there's also sqrxz 2 which uses the same codebase.

Well... if anyone "trustable" and "scene known" person wants to port the game, I am willing to share the source code of Sqrxz 1, 2 and 3 :)
