The thing is, I've searched some videos on youtube about psx emulation on gpx2 (handheld that can be overclocked to 250Mhz) and I've realised that emulation on Dingoo not only hasn't improved an inch, but it's equal or even worse (at least Gp2x has sound in FF7). To add insult to injury, I'm talking about videos dated in 2006 (yeah, that's a lot of time). Even the (lack of) emulator's interface is the same.

Videos like these... and many others.

<a href="https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=YYC8Nnj5Nno" target="_blank">https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=YYC8Nnj5Nno</a>

Holy crap! That is a half-decent emulation! Otherwise, My dingoo hangs inmediately at the first screen (logo) when I'm testing Wipeout.

So I finally came to my senses and I don't expect PSX emulation to work on Dingoo. Ever. I quit.

Now I feel better with myself and I'm one with the world.  Now I understand the chant of the birds and the serenade of the branches blowing in the breeze. I only wanted to get across this important message that might save your souls.

Thanks for your time.  Peace may be with you.

I understand your frustration, and I must say I share it with you.
It seems (at the moment) like decent PSX emulation is indeed a dream.

On the other hand, I think porting of other games/apps/etc is more interesting than emulation.
The gameplay and overall feel of the games do not match the inputs of the (for example) Dingoo in terms of button configuration etc, which makes the emulation an uphill struggle from the start.

Lobbying to get indie game developers to either release source code to dingoo/dingux developers for release on the dingoo (somehow, paid or not) would be a much more interesting prospect than getting emulators to 'work', which they never will, because they're emulators!

For example, Meritous was ported to dingux quite long ago, but no effort has been made to fix the bugs in the port (mainly making it pretty much unplayable) and even though the code's been fixed for the gp2x, the same fixes have yet to be applied to the dingux build. Why is that?

Laziness or ignorance? I've made efforts to port and improve code on various ports and even some games that haven't been ported yet, but I keep running into compatibility issues on the developer side and don't really have the time to really sit down and try to straighten everything out.

All I can say is, if anyone were to decide to release ported games for the dingux for commercial profit, given that the ports were good enough (a demo is a must, of course...), I'd pay for them.

Here's something I would VERY MUCH like to see running on dingux;

Shouldn't be too much of a hassle to port... If the developers release the source to a selected developer, that is...

The best thing to do if you want PSX emulation on Dingoo is to learn to code and develop your own emulator or use the source for PSX4All to improve the existing one. Moaning about it on forums won't encourage others to do it on your behalf. Another idea might be to offer encouragement for existing devs, possibly with a nice healthy donation if they accept them.

We'd all like to have better emulation but this is how things are with the homebrew scene, it just depends who develops or ports particular software for a particular device.

Also keep in mind that these consoles were never meant to emulate PSX, anyone who bought one with those intentions is either naive or can't read. However it does seem like it's now expected of the Dingoo which shouldn't be the case.

In other words, if you want a handheld console which successfully emulates consoles with dedicated GPUs then buy a Yinlips, Xperia Play or hack a PSP. If PSX emulation was important to me I'd already own a Yinlips.
Handhelds:
GPD Win, GPD XD 64gb, Pap KIII-Plus, RS-97, RS-90, New Bittboy, 3DS XL, DSi XL, GBA SP, GBBC Clone, Gameboy Pocket, PSP Go,
PC:
HP Envy M6, Acer 522, Dell Mini 9
Psion 5 & 5MX
Tons of other old laptops and tablets.....

Take it easssssy,

You're right here but you're reading much into what I wrote.  I'm not moaning nor bitching and I've never criticised the fantastic work that developers do. I only restated that what can't be done, can't be done. Basically, what    you' ve said. Besides, on my book, Dingoo just needs a little bit improvement (maybe a slight tweaking os snes or mame). That's all. Other than that, it's perfect.

Also keep in mind that these consoles were never meant to emulate PSX, anyone who bought one with those intentions is either naive or can't read. However it does seem like it's now expected of the Dingoo which shouldn't be the case.

I couldn't agree more. Yes I thoroughly recommend Yinlips if you want Psx and N64.  That's why Dingoo and Yinlips are targeted to a different segment of users.  Dingo is the beast of retroemulation whereas Yinlips is dedicated to 32 bits consoles.

So take a grip. You need to relax, man. I feel you're stressed. That's bad.

@CRITERIA: You forget that the GP2X's CPU was dual-core...

And PSX emulation on dingoo won't improve. It is already heavily optimized, thanks to Uli, and there's nothing that can be done to make it much faster.

Criteria?? And yes, that would explain why the emulation is even better.

I've realized that fact watching the videos from 2006.  I Agree.

Greetings.
