Atari 5200 & 800

The emulator doesn't load my .a52 files. I have a complete TOSEC, but none of the ROMs work. I always get the blue screen saying that the Atari emulator crashed. The ROM that came with the emulator works fine, also .a52.

It is also meant to load .zip files (f.ex. Atari 800 emulator), which works fine. But after loading the zipped file, it also unzips it, and puts the .atr file in the rom folder too, meaning you have the same file twice, once zipped, once unzipped. Same happens with the zipped .a52 files, which of course don't work for me either way.

I also noticed when the files are zipped in a folder f.ex. \roms\a, then it leaves the zipped file in the \roms\a folder, unzips it, and puts it in the \roms folder, so that you have it twice.

But the Atari 800 games work fine, so I will unzip them all, and put them into single folders, named a,b,c... like I usually do with all of my files.

Will report this to ZX81.

You have to choose the right a52 cartridge size to run the roms. Use the Atari Menu and select Cartridge Management/Insert Cartridge after selecting the file you have to choose if it is a one chip or two chip cartridge. You have to try to find out which one was used.

With the Atari Menu you can also load xex files with the run program option.

And oh yes, to go one menu back, just use the L-Trigger.

I found 5200 to be too much trouble and just got rid of it entirely...preferring to run 2600 and 7800 and Lynx.

That said, my experience with 5200 was that you had to boot almost EVERYTHING from the Atari bluescreen, or it would crash.

And the best way to know what to select for cartridge type...was to guess at it, until you got it right once...then go in and rename the game file with a code that lets you know what type of cartridge you should select to load it as.

Like I said, in my case, I did not find the 5200 to be enough of an advancement...to make it worth the trouble, most of the 5200 games I had...I also had in 2600 and/or 7800...and both of those emus worked out a lot easier for me.
