Is there an OpenDingux kernel mailing list?

No, we usually meet on the #dingoonity IRC channel on freenode. If you don't like IRC, you could use the issue tracker on github instead.

This is a really great app, I hope it will be improved. Hope this dingux tv-out gets other people's attention and many great programmers join in this effort. NTSC video mode doesn't work properly on my tv, the image is off horizontally (my TV supports PAL & NTSC too)
I made a video too: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=I3hJu97C56k

Does this kernel include the right poweroff functions from the rtc kernel?

Can't get it to work  :(

It hangs and says "libpng warning: Incorrect sRGB chunk length" and I have to reset

Just start the tvout app with --ntsc or --pal @ about 336mhz (mine works best on 337). How did you try to start it?

Yeah I tried with --pal and --ntsc, gmenu2x at 336MHz

What am I missing? I replaced the zImage put the tvout in apps, added two shortcuts for tvout and added params --pal and --off

Cant get it to work too. :(

If my tv screen shows the gmenu, the tv image runs. But if I start an game, the tv image is clear but split. I tried it on two different crt tv's. And another question: is it possible to run the tv out from dmenu? With "./tvout-2010-06-05" as executable declaration it dosent run.

EDIT: Ok, with "./tvout-2010-06-05 --pal" it "works" with dmenu too. But what about the split screen and the running tv image while it shows the menu?

(...) I had actually assumed that this whole thing had died by now, given the rapid nature of change in the Chinese gadget market. To my surprise, it hadn't. :) (...)

I think this is because A320 is surprisingly better than most chinese gaming gadgets. Dingoo is a really nice exception. :)

Dingoo receives much more love than Wiz by the community...
Day after day it becomes more popular, unlike the wiz, which is supposed to receive more support given the GPH?s "tradition".

I might pick up work on psx4all at some point, but while I have more interesting things to do, I'll do those. :) I must say, however, that I do find it rather odd that everybody here seems wait for the messiah to hand down the code instead of taking matters into their own hands...

If you read the dingoonity News posts, it's obvious that people are working hard to port and enhance apps for the Dingoo. But i think you know for shure, that a there is only a minority of people having the knowledge to code on kernel/i2c/mips asm.

So, if people really want to thank you for doing a great job, just take it as it's meant. That is not the case in all communities.

I also get several requests on enhancing the Snes emulator or portings Apps. I also have limited time, but I have to say, that the Dingoo Community is far the nicest Community I know. Thats why I'm coding for it from time to time and helping out, when I have the time beside my other oss projects.

Well said. It's very comforting that the Dingoo community is more active and passionate than most gadget communities around. And thanks to you and some other talented programmers the scene is pretty much alive.

I hope to learn the dingoo-sdk really well to be producing something cool soon.

And uli, congrats, man. This is an amazing work.  ;D

You can write shell scripts to execute the tvout app with parameters. I believe gmenu2x itself can also launch programs with parameters if you set them in the options for each entry.

Does using TV-Out cause slowdown like on the native OS, or is that just a bug?

Hi,

I installed the zImage-9325 thing on http://github.com/uli/dingoo-tvout/downloads, but when I want to boot, the device freezes and nothing happens.

What's wrong?

The zimage and the rootfs need to be put on the first sectors of the sdcard. You need to copy them first and then the rest. I got the same issue when I tried to change the zimage only.

And I noticed no slowdowns with TVout, but you can only use this with a clock about 336mhz, so no overclocking is available. And the picture on the screen is a bit cut on the left. Can anyone confirm this?
