Games that should be ported to dingux
« on: February 11, 2010, 06:43:04 am »
Has anyone ever thought of porting Chasm the rift or Strife to dingux? pretty much all the other 3d shooters from that time have been ported, I am surprised these two haven't. I would work on it myself if I had any idea how.

ZDoom is open source engine that will play strife as well as doom, hexen and heretic, I'm sure CongoZombie at one stage said he might look into porting it so before anyone decides to port it they may want to ask him if he's started it.

The source is available here:
http://zdoom.org/Download

I don't know anything about Chasm the Rift.

didn't zdoom make heavy use of x86 asm ? (not sure anymore if it was zdoom but if this is the case porting might not be straightforward since the dingoo is a mips and not x86 architecture)

No, but it uses fmod, which isn't opensource

I don't get it, what's the point of posting in development for something not started and which the OP admits he can't do, and thus has no intention to start? In which case there's a request thread:

*EDIT* Or maybe it's just a way of begging without having to use the words "hello" (ack), "please" (gulp)  and "thanks" (oh no, costs me ?1 a pop)  :P

well, I really didn't know where to put it, and that is in the original firmware section.
