SDL SNES Emu SlowDown question
« on: February 08, 2013, 08:04:00 am »
Hi everyone,

i was playing the SDL SNES Emu from Alien Greys CFW and was having a great time reliving the past :)
but i found a small number of ROMs that have such a massive slow down that theyre not playable anymore.
i was checking if those were a bad dump and used them on pc (snes9x), but there they run smooth.
so i compared the rom stats to the others that work fine, and found the following:

if a rom has type "sa-1" and runs in mode 23 it is not playable on the a380

all other snes enhancement chips and modes seem to have no problems (s-dd1,dsp2) or only very minor slow down (dsp1,cx4)
(except for the infamous sfx chip of course)

so my question is, is there anything i can do on my end to make sa-1 ROMs run better on the dingoo? some config settings maybe?

Thanks in advance for any help and tips :)

A lot of games run better if you change Frameskip from Auto to 60/2. Lowering the sound frequency also helps a bit.
Dingoo A-380 CFW V2.11.09 "RetroDD" - 2 x SanDisk SDHC 32GB Class 10 MicroSD Inside - 2 x Dingoo F-16 Wireless Game Controller

cool, thanks for the hints, that really did help improve the games speed.
always thought "auto" would find the best frameskip, gotta play around with it in some other games too then :)
