If (somehow) gets done by someone...

i know dual boot is not an option   :o

What will happen with the existing software? Some apps will still work, others will have to be recompiled. The same thing as with dingux->opendingux transition on a320.

Actually, you're not quite right. There is a possibility to run other kernel from standard firmware with kexec, so it's a kind of dual-boot.

I don't see the need for dual boot. Most of the software is already OpenDingux compatible. The software that isn't can be recompiled to make it compatible. Only the software without source code cna be a problem but there isn't much that we're using right now without the source code.

i think some sound bugs are there in OD... so Dual boot is better (OD for tv out and CFW for normal use). we can use the same software with both the firmwares...

Is this true? Open Dingux for the A380? That would be very exciting indeed, though I just recently asked about it and was told that it

I recently asked pcercuei about this:

Quote
About OD on A380, that represents a great amount of work we're not willing to put into yet another port. We're currently busy with the GCW Zero port. Though the unofficial OpenDingux port to the RZX-50 could be used as a base.

So I assume someone else is doing this?

I'm prepared to do some serious testing. I've just ordered two Dingoo A-380 replacement kits.

It's very close now.  ;D

I've just tested a new kernel for the Dingoo A-380. I've found some bugs but I've found something much more interesting. TV out always sucked with the Dingoo A-380 because you could only use the original Dingoo A-380 emulators. These days are over and with the new kernel the original Dingoo A-380 emulators don't work anymore with TV out.  ???

That's very good news because now every other application that you always wanted to run with TV out now works with better performance and sharp images.  8)

So what's the ETA for this, as I'd much prefer OpenDingux on the A380... especially for MAME. It would probably become my primary development platform if that was the case!

There's no ETA for this just like there's no ETA for MAME4All.   ;D

The reason I ask is that I would rather do a nice version of MAME4ALL for A380 on OpenDingux than legacy Dingux.

please you just need to tweak the sound on imame4all 1.1 for a380, should not be so hard
works pretty good right now, besides that
