In search of a a320 replacement! advice please.
« on: August 07, 2017, 10:22:53 am »
Hello there.

My beloved a320 has died, well fallen out of my bag when cycling and exploded.

I loved it but have no idea if the a380 is an adequate replacement, eg amiga emulation for example.

Also looking online I can't find anywhere to get a replacement a320 or even an a380 these days.

Any tips or advice please folks? I loved the size and functionality and the tv out aspect. If the a380 is as good or something else then please help! Also any links to sites selling them would help.

thankyou

Hi.
In fact, dingux-based handhelds are still out there, though no more a320/a330 and a380's...
Try to look for 'PAP KIII' like here:
http://boards.dingoonity.org/other-game-systems/pap-kiii-chinese-pmp-with-dingoo-software/

Aliexpress has it as well, these are based on jz4755 soc (the same soc as in a380):
https://ru.aliexpress.com/item/Free-to-play-1393-classic-games-Portable-Game-Console-CPS-NEOGEO-SGEA-SNES-Arcade-KOF-Soccer/32819259452.html
https://ru.aliexpress.com/item/Newest-Arcade-Portable-Game-Console-Simulator-game-machine-1393-games-for-GBA-CPS-NEOGEO-NES-FC/32815136132.html

This one is more advances (jz4760 soc)
https://ru.aliexpress.com/item/3-5-Portable-Handheld-Game-Console-64BIT-PAP-KIIIS-Games-Perfectly-support-CP-GBA-format-games/32809608119.html

But there's no community support for them and it's questionable whether it's possible to install software from a320.
I personally recommend getting a GCW-Zero. :) It has a lot of games and emulators (psx as well!)

Try a320 version from here:
https://boards.dingoonity.org/dingux-releases/pcsx4all-2-4-for-dingoo-a320/
it should work on pap kIII as well.

I second getting a GCW-Zero, they are really nice!

This PAP KIIIS however, would have been pretty neat though. AUD$50 shipped to Australia. Damn cheap.

These just run Dingux? And can run homebrew?

Looks like it can run .dge archives from opendingux and it has a dingux legacy kernel

Take a look at these threads for more info :)

Not at this stage I'm flat out with my current stack.
Good news is I have an OPK version now for the GCW Zero.
You might think that took a long time and it did but it was a lot more fiddly getting it all right. I wanted it to remain fully compatible from command line and to be able to run as an OPK.

I would go with the PAP KIII Plus instead with the PAP KIIIs.
They have the same CPU.

The KIIIs has smaller screen with higher resolution.
Higher resolution gives you issues with old emulators. (and is not really needed as the emulated systems had very low resolution).
