Of course but first I would like to know if it's going to work for everyone. Someone that has issues with CFW V2.08.03 should send me a pm so I can give him the download link to the files to boot the new kernel and try it out. It's as simple as executing the .dge file to boot the Dingoo A-380 with the new kernel so you don't need to do a lot of work to try it out.

It isn't OpenDingux. It's still using the original rootfs but there has been a lot fixes done on the kernel by d_smagin. This makes it possible to run most games withtout the need to recompile them with the sdlwrapper to center the image on the Dingoo A-380 screen.  ;)

No. The GCW Zero emulators and games won't work on a Dingoo A-380. You need a GCW Zero for them.  ;D

Dingoo A-380 render by Santo

The new Dingoo A-380 CFW V2.09.02 "Exmortis" is available to rock in your Dingoo A-380.

New in this CFW version is the kernel update to version 2.6.32 by d_smagin alias The SDL Master or known by many as Exmortis. Also new in this CFW version is a new feature VMLinux added to the System menu to make it possible to boot the Dingoo A-380 from dmenu with the factory kernel.

This is what I call the ultimate Dingoo A-380 CFW. It has a lot better compatibility with the old Dingux legacy applications than the factory kernel. Most of the applications no longer need to be recompiled to center the image on screen. This makes it a lot easier to make ports for the Dingoo A-380.

The VMLinux feature added to the dmenu makes it possible to boot the factory kernel. This is necessary to run the FinalBurn Alpha emulator (nxu.dge) because the emulator no longer works with the new kernel.  :( This feature can also be used to easily test kernel updates and... a lot more.  ;D

Note: Download the Dingoo A-380 CFW V2.09.02 emulator pack. The VMLinux files are added to this archive. Copy the vmlinux folder to your external MicroSD card to make it possible to boot the factory kernel from dmenu. There's also a new ScummVM build added.  :)

P.S.: TV out can now be used with every emulator or game.  ;)

The difference is that it boots the new kernel and you can boot the factory kernel from dmenu.

This is how it's supposed to be because the new kernel fixes the most annoying issues with the Dingoo A-380. We no longer need the factory kernel except for nxu.dge. Also d_smagin spend a lot of time updating the kernel and fixing the issues. It only seems right to me to boot it with the new kernel and give him the respect he deserves by calling the new CFW "Exmortis".

Also keep in mind that eveything compiled for the Dingoo A-380 in the future won't be centered on the screen anymore if you don't use this new CFW.  ;)

Is hardware double buffering supported on the A380?
And telnet access would be awesome.

If these are already included, then please forgive my ignorance.

I would like to say that this is a great update. I can finally plug my dingoo into my mac without it ejecting itself. The only problem is that I can not hear any sound anymore. I can't play Parappa the Rapper without being confused lol. Can you help me find out what this is? Thanks in advance.

I'll try but you need to explain exactly what's going on.

I also had an issue with the new kernel. It didn't want to charge the battery like it did with factory kernel. I'm not sure what happened but I could fix it with a RESET with the new kernel. Than booting the old kernel with VMLinux. It didn't want to load dmenu (is this the famous bug with V2.08.03  ???) but that was also fixed with a RESET.

I'm not sure if this has anything to do with charging the battery with the new kernel but it did charge it with booting the old kernel with VMLinux. The next time I need to charge it I'm going to try it again with the new kernel.

Edit: Try with an earphone. If there's sound than the speaker wires are broken and need to be resoldered. Also Parappa the Rapper is a PSX game and there's no sound with the PSX emulator.  ;)

I just installed a clean install as my A380 was playing up. I don't understand the factory and VMlinux options. Under VMlinux the only option I have is Dingux. All that happens is the screen turns white then goes to the main menu the same as when I switch it on.

The TV option is a lot better but my Neo Geo and CPS2 emulators have stopped functioning correctly and the SDL nintendo emulator seems to lag as bad as the default one now.

Is there something i'm missing or is this all known?

vmlinux is not compatible with stock fba -neogeo , arcade cps1/cps2,etc-
that's why you can also boot default

VMLinux -> Dingux. Dingux boots factory kernel. Necessary for nxu.dge (Factory CPS1, CPS2, NEO-GEO and FinalBurn Alpha emulator). It's also better to boot the factory kernel to charge the battery because charging it with the Exmortis kernel takes a very long time.

There's no lag with the SDL Nintendo emulator with the Exmortis kernel. It should work full speed like it did before.

Sorry if im not understanding this correctly but could you sort of explain it step by step? The option called VMLinux has Dingux as an option within it. Am i supposed to even click that or does it start by default?

I dont know how to swap between the factory kernel and the exmortis one and is that even possible?

thanks for your replys

VMLinux -> Dingux then press the A button.

It should boot the factory kernel. To go back to the Exmortis kernel select Reboot and press the A button.

That's it.  :)
