DOSBox for Dingoo A-380/A-320e
« on: November 23, 2012, 01:51:29 pm »
Here's DOSBox for the Dingoo A-380 and A-320e.

Don't ask for the source code because I didn't recompile it. I've been reading about DOSBox on the Ritmix RZX-50 and I thought if it's possible it should work on the Dingoo A-380 too. I decided to give it a try and changed the configuration settings and to my surprise it runs on the Dingoo A-380.

Here's a test version for the Dingoo A-380 and A-320e. I hope it's good enough to run some games.  ;D

The path to "c_drive" needs to be changed in the "dosbox.conf" file.

Create a folder "c_drive" in the "dosbox" folder next to the "dosbox.dge". Edit the "dosbox.conf" and change the path. It should look like this:

Code: [Select]
[autoexec]
mount C /mnt/mmc/emulator/dosbox/c_drive
C:
cd ****
****.exe

That seems to work fine.

I've tried to run the game Alone In The Dark to see if it works.

Make a folder "AITD" and add the Alone In The Dark game files. Copy the folder "AITD" with the game files in the folder "c_drive" and change the "dosbox.conf" file to look like this:

Code: [Select]
[autoexec]
mount C /mnt/mmc/emulator/dosbox/c_drive
C:
cd AITD
ALONE.EXE

When you start dosbox it's going to run the "ALONE.EXE". This works too but I can't get the game to run.  ???

We don't but I didn't try it yet.

It doesn't work perfectly on the Dingoo so it won't on the Ritmix RZX-50. All we can do is try to find the games that do work.

No. Everything in the "dosbox.conf" is necessary.

Small progress. It needs a "mapper.map" text file with the button assignment. That should work and I've tried it but still no luck to get anything playable.  :(

I wasn't the first to try DOSBox.

Here's a video how good it works on the Dingoo A-380: http://dingoo-scene.blogspot.be/2012/08/dingoo-a380-dosbox-running-games-and.html

It's possible and it seems to run very good.  :)

Try the updated dosbox version. I tested it with the Arcade game Aldo's Adventure and it's possible to play it.  ;)

The dosbox configuration settings still need more adjustments to make it run better.

Edit:

Wolfenstein 3D works full screen.  ;D

I uploaded a new version with some optimized settings for Wolfenstein 3D.

Edit:

Sound is now enabled and working. Remember to enable the soundblaster sound in Wolfenstein 3D.  ;)

Wolfestein working from 3d games folder, but too slow for me, could you optimize it?
Its slow even reducing the window

Try the new one. It runs with frameskip 0. Gave it some more cycles and optimized the sound a bit.

I also changed the L and R button because they're switched on the Dingoo A-380.

Yes, but this is an Alpha Release...

Still don't know why they don't wait till they have a playable version before a release, Dosbox and Mame4all suck so much i deleted them from my console

Hi everyone,

Alien Grey pointed me to this thread.

Looks like MAME4ALL needs some love for the A380.

I've been working on some speed improvements for MAME4ALL OpenDingux. The v1.0 for A320 OD was... pretty slow in most instances :(
Even some basic games seemed to be a lot slower than what you may expect.

I don't have an A380 console so it's hard for me to get anything working on it.

I would be happy to get a better version of DOSBox running on this console however I need an A380 console.
I can get an A380 posted to me for AUD$120. I'm willing to put in half of that if perhaps some other A380 users who want DOSBox want to put in the rest.

I'm also posting this message on the MAME4ALL thread and will get MAME4ALL also running.
