AVOID >:(
it's as bad as the sticky directional pad buggy GCW ...
-
And now you can get screwed for only $99.99.
You save 17% or lose only 83%. ;D

And still you don't see anywhere on the site that it's an A-380e. ::)

Yep, it's a nice little 'screw the consumer' move on Thinkgeek's part. I disassembled mine if anyone's curious about the internals:

here we go again:
Dingoo A380E is a repackaged Dingoo A320E
its as shitty as GCW

The device is not bad... if you can update the emulators, everything works well...
-
I just bought an a380e off of ebay and had no idea about this.
are you @#$%ing SERIOUS?
I bought this thing to compile all my GBA games together and have a decent processor, and now I learn that it is a @#$%ing FAKE??
Can someone please help me here. I need to know whether I should get a refund. I spent 92 bucks on this thing. I need to know if this device can do what I ask of it, or if I should just get a refund and work on getting a PS Vita for my GBA emulation. I want to play Boktai again, dammit. gPSPkai on my PSP 3000 crashes every time I try Boktai, and the sound lag is something I hate.

Did you try the GBA emulator?
Mine works perfectly, except by the fact that only 2 buttons work. The emulator needs to be updated or install an external emu. such as Dingux...

I wanted an emu that would run at 30fps, have the ability to run cheats, and be able to use an internal clock. I thought that kind of thing was available to upgrade to if I had an a380, and with only two functional buttons, I won't be able to play the Megaman Battle Network series, nor Yggdra Union (which will probably require frameskip anyway, since the processor in the a380e is lesser than an actual a380, and my PSP running at 333mHz needed frameskip on Yggdra Union GBA), nor Boktai, which as stated previously, crashes my PSP outright.
I also wanted an a380 for the ability to actually run games like Terranigma, Secret of Mana, Megaman X3, and Seiken Densetsu 3 without using frameskip and with crisp audio. That seems like an impossible task for the a380e, all things considered.
I'm debating whether or not I want to return the item.
If anyone can come up with a better device for me to buy than an original (and apparently impossible to find) a380 that will run GBA, SNES, CPS1, CPS2, NEO GEO, NeoGeo Pocket Color, and the stuff that the a380 with CFW runs so smoothly, then I will definitely return my device.
I'm a frustrated newbie here, I admit. Still, I need to be quick and tactful about my next decision, as it did cost me 92 dollars USD.

Well, GBA, NES and GENESIS working fine, I'm good... I'll try the firmware for the A320e, because I believe both are the exact same product... even the issues (such as the LR buttons on GBA) are the same... hope Coccijoe give me a help...

Hi all,
I've recently purchased an A380E and all of you who are complaining about firmware issues are complaining because nobody has released a firmware patch for this model.
Because nobody has made a release, you all automatically deem the device worthless...
Hint: Why don't you program a firmware yourself and stop blaming the device for it's factory shortcomings?
I have a feeling A320E custom firmware will work perfectly as they are both shipped out of the factory with the same device version being v1.0.0R137 and not to mention identical PCB layout...
What I need now are tools required to flash a Dingoo A320E as all the URL's and links seem to be broken on this site and other youtube sources due to old age..
If you could please supply links to USBboot along with drivers for JZ4750 USB Boot Device that would be awesome!
-
I tried, it didn't work.... I had sound and a white screen only...
I returned the A380 e as couldnt make emus work fine and bought a GCW. Never was so happy with retro games like now...
-
Hey,
Which version of which firmware did you install?
-
I don't remember... it was a long time ago... I remember it was the last one that I could find...
-
I need to obtain dingux A320E OS along with flashing tools.
Do you have the files at hand which you could perhaps so generously upload?
I can't justify paying $180AUD to purchase a GCW Zero when I could buy a Gamepad G58 which offers a lot more for less..
Cheers.

Sorry, I deleted those... I searched in the forum and downloaded the files...
The A380e costs 120 dollars in US and GCW costs less than 150... which one is a better option for you?
The GCW advantages in my opinion are: a living community always launching new games, emus, applications, etc... also, all emulators WORK perfectly, with save states, being very easy to navigate through the games, wireless connection, etc. My A380e didn't have SNES emulator working (was accelerated), arcade emulators working, GBA emulator working (didn't work the LR buttons), , save states not working, etc... for 30 dollars difference, I'm totally a GCW fan now...

I personally think the Dingoo A380E has marvelous physical design..
Worst case worse, I reckon it's well worth building a PiGrrl...

I like the design too... but don't have time to build anything :-( , just play this pocket games while I'm traveling :-/

Hmmmm...

It seems that ThinkGeek is already aware of the problems that this version is causing. There's a note in the product's page (http://www.thinkgeek.com/product/f280/):
"NOTE: We are working with Dingoo to get this model added to their site and clarifying specs to support use/mods"
There's also a note on Dingoo's page (http://dingoo.hk/en_product.asp?id=36&flagid=1):
"NOTE: We are working with thinkgeek many years. Thinkgeek is super and great!"
I wonder how long until Dingoo updates the specification and/or release a valid SDK for the A380e.

Has anyone successfully flashed their A380e with A320E-DINGUX.zip? Should work with no problems, because both systems are the same, right?
