PocketSNES Trouble!
« on: November 11, 2011, 03:07:00 am »
Hello Dingoonity!

So I just picked up the Dingoo a320 the other day, and I've been in search of decent emulator for the native firmware. Alas, I found PocketSNES on this site!

One problem: I am having extreme difficulty getting it going. I followed the directions in the readme file (copied everything from the pocketsnes folder onto the dingoo) and the SNES roms still open with the SFC emulator. Further, I tried deleting the SFC emulator, and the Dingoo gives an error which basically says no emulator exists for those roms... Am I doing something wrong here?

Thanks!

Tried update jukebox?
Sorry guys for not caring about dingoonity lately. It was nice to be with you, and maybe I'll come back, but not now...

Go to the MUSIC icon and scroll down to the end until you see an 'Update Jukebox' function.

Basically, it re-scans your Dingoo and detects newly added files.

Are you kidding me?? Alright... Will give that a shot as soon as I can... Friend borrowed my a320 for a couple days. :( I'll let you know if this works or not!

Thanks, Frank_fjs!

It should work. The Dingoo works on a file association system, so that you can select a rom and it will launch it in the appropriate emulator.

All your SNES games would have been registered to open with the default emulator, which you then deleted so it now doesn't know what to do with these files. Once you run the update jukebox function, it will re-register the SNES roms with the new PocketSnes emulator.

Good stuff! While I'm at it, is there a reason to have both the .sim and .app versions of the emulators? What's the difference between them?

Thanks for all the help!

The two versions, SIM and APP, are just there for flexibility, but they are both the same program.

The APP version is run like a traditional program, where you first load the program and then select a rom from an internal menu. You need to launch APP's from the 3D game folder.

The SIM version works by just selecting a rom from the Interesting game folder.

You don't need both installed.

I prefer the APP version, you can load .zip files instead of uncompressed ones. With de SIM version you can't do this because the .zip extension is associated with the CPS1 emulator.

I'm back... figured I'd just keep using the same thread to save clutter. I noticed if I leave my a320 plugged into my computer, it ejects itself with no warning or reason. This is problematic when I'm trying to transfer many files at once... happens around the 7 minute mark... any thoughts?

Thanks!

First thing to try is different USB cable (in case you're using the included one). Mine hasn't work properly. Or maybe some shorter cable.
