Manic Miner V1.0
« on: November 11, 2009, 09:01:38 am »
Hi all with a great game on your Dingoo.
This is Manic Miner !!!!
This game was on ZX Spectrum some "long" time ago (in our galaxy ^^).
The goal is to guide Willy through 20 caves ... Not so easy ...

How to play :
Install the APP file in GAME directory of the Dingoo. Go in 3DGAMES menu, and
select manicminer.app tu run the game.

Quote
V1.0 : 11/11/2009

Enjoy !

Download here : ManicMiner V1.0

And source code here (because it's only a port of Andy Nobles "Manic Miner" version) : Manic Source code

I forgot to say that a new version of my mod library is shipped with Manic Miner. It can manage SFX and xm/mod play.
Even if SFX are not so good in Manic Miner  ;) !

I remember wasting hours on this and Jet Set Willy on the ZX Spectrum when I was a kid, awwww the memories.
This will certainly be put on my dingoo, thanks and keep up the awesome work.

I didn't realise it was based on Andy Noble's version! Superb!

Is Jet Set Willy next?! ;)

alekmaul, i tried the game but the colors seems to be darker than usual. Thank you so much for your support to the native OS. For some reason i can't install dingux, so it's refreshing to have new apps to play every week.

alekmaul, you've done a great job with this. The sound is a bit off in places (completing a stage) but overall, congrats and thank you so much! This is exactly the kind of thing I wanna see on my Dingoo!

I've showed this to a good friend of mine, Dan Richardson, who is also a huge Miner Willy fan and he did a great version of JSWII a few years back. If you wanna continue with these kinda games, he gives you his full blessing to convert his PC effort (it also features graphics and blessing from Andy Noble and unused music from Matt Simmonds who did the tunes for the original JSW PC). Check it out below...

In the meantime, I shall enjoy MM like it's 1983 all over again!

alekmaul,

On my non-pawed Dingoo I get the freeze after exiting Manic Miner and trying to start something else. Same with XRickOO.

Thanks for all the work. I love ColeCOO SmsGGOO and DOOEngine.

OK, i will check this pb with the new Spiller function to know if something is not free before exiting (certainly in the mod/xm player, i have no malloc in Manic Miner).
Abotu colors, yes, i know it's a bit dark but i took the Andy Nobles palette actually. I will try to modify it a bit to have more color.
About crappy SFX, i agree, if someone has a wav file with the ending level sound or the gameover sound, i will add them to Manic Miner.

Yes, of course, i will do Jet Set Willy. I have actually an Andy Noble source code but my version has not so much sounds / music than Dan version. If you know where can i find Dan source code version, it will be great.

PS : I'm an old guy who began playing game on ZX Spectrum with so much great games like Manic Miner, Jet Set Willy, Ant Attack, Knight Lore , Alien 8 and Atic Attac ^^
I think one of my futur goal will be to allow me to play original version on Dingoo Native OS ^^ (just wait and see)

I'll have a word. Sadly, he may have lost it with his old PC but I'll check it out.

I have good memories of the old Speccy days but I do like these kind of remakes. They're not over the top and ruined like many early remakes; they're merely the originals with a new lick of paint.

I was right. It was on his old HD. However, he is still going to have a look regardless though it may be corrupted by now.

Keep up the good work, man.

Hmmm, a ZX-Spectrum Emulator for the native Dingoo? Sounds great, thanks as always for this port Alekmaul.
