Can anyone explain to me how to use the cheat option?

The option is there on dingoosnes etc... but its non selectable so appears to be redundant.  I have searched this site and internet for advice but can't find any reference to using this option. I may of missed a thread on this topic and if I have I apologise but I can't find it  :-[

yup thats how to game genie works in this DEP, ;) and i need update about new emu from lion, like PC engine and GBA, so they can use cheats code

There is no source code. the author decided not to release it (yet?), although they are GPL emulators.
