Hello,
Here is a port of Commander Keen for Dingoo Native OS (port of CloneKeen in fact).
You can find it in the dingoo digital website, because it's an entry for its compo.

Great! How many episodes did you port? In CloneKeen for Dingux only the first 2 eps are available. But the latter are sooooooo much more fun!

Awesome! I used to love playing the Commander Keen series on my old 386.

Keep in mind though, some may take the word "koon" in the wrong kontext.

Not 2, but 3 episodes are available in CLoneKeen. And as it is a port of CloneKeen, only 3 for CommanderKoon too.
Just take a look at readme file, all is explained in it.

*EDIT* Works great! Much better than the Dingux port! Out of curiosity, any reason to use the original CloneKeen over CloneKeen Plus/Commander Genius? Is it because you based your port on the GP2X version as suggested in the readme?

i'm a bit confused on how to set this one up.

the read me says to put the "commanderkoon" directory on the dingoo (well this is how i read it), and later it says to put the files in the same folder as the .app.

i placed commanderkoon.app in my 3d folder along with the full versions of ep 1-3. these are the same file i use on alek's nds port so i know they work. everything is in caps as it should be.

when i launch the homebrew on the dingoo it goes to "loading" then crashes to "an error has occured game is shutting down." i tried restarting my dingoo as suggested in the compo thread, i still get the error msg.

any ideas?

Ok, perhaps readme file is a bit confused.
Just try that :
In you GAME directory, create a kkoon directory.
Put all files even the .APP file in this kkoon directory.
Put all your episode files in this kkon directory.
Try again to launch the .APP file with 3D game menu.

Also, for those that wonder, source code will be available soon, of course.

thank you for the reply.

this time i put in the included .dat files, i thought these were for the demo? with all of those in the directory the full episodes are loading up.

which of the .dat files are required? -- all of them?
are the .dat files for the demo or are they required files of the emu?

Yep, all the .dat files are for the demo. I can't release .dat files for episodes 1 ..3 because they are copyright ...
SO, you can only play demo if you don't have full episode 1..3 .dat files.

its odd then that the full episodes that i have would not load until i put the .dats in the same directory? or is that how the emu works?

yes, that's how the meu works. It 's in the readme file.

hi alek,

the readme might contain that information but it is not written clearly. the words "make sure all of the .dat files found in the commanderkoon directory are placed in the same folder as the .app" are not anywhere in the readme. it might help to include that information, tho putting the .dats in does seem like a logical step while debugging.

the read me has this...
"Install the APP file in a subdirectory of your GAME directory of the Dingoo. Go in 3DGAMES menu, and select commanderkoon.app tu run the game. Warning, the zip file contains a subdirectory with demo files, don't forget to unzip it in your commanderkoon directory."

i have the full versions of ep 1-3 so i skipped over this. i was working on an assumption that the .dat files were the files for the demo version of ep1.

Completed episode 1

However, episode 2 cannot be completed because you cannot switch off the light in the last level (by jumping in front of the switch right at the beginning).
I'm also stuck in episode 3 because there's a yellow key I cannot get without dying, and in the original there was a glitch that let you jump through the yellow door without the key. Dunno if it was a glitch and thus I'm missing something.

anyway i can't load level - after LOAD screen i've got "an error has occured/game is shutting down"

I think 4-6 use a different engine, but 1-3 works perfectly for me. Make sure to copy ALL .CKx (where x is 1 to 3) files and all fiels from the clonekoon archive. To be safe, you could keep all DOS files, not just the .CKx ones.
You'll have to create a directory for each episode, and unzip clonekoon in each one of them if you want to keep the 3 on the Dingoo at the same time.
