Dingo deader than a door nail!!
« on: October 14, 2013, 11:09:24 pm »
Folks this is THE strangest thing that has ever happened to me with a console and I am sure when you read this you will agree. I was actually PLAYING with my Dingoo A320 for about a half and hour when it turned itself off in my hands and no matter what I try I can't get it to turn on again! I'll repeat that, I wasn't upgrading firmware, installing dingux, or even transferring files from the PC! It didnt' fall either, it just went dead in my hands!!  I was just playing with the thing and the screen turned off in my hands! I have tried 5 different wall chargers and it does nothing, no charging screen, no usb screen, nothing! I have plugged it into two different PC's,  one with XP and one with Vista and nothing either, neither computer recognizes it and the Dingoo screen does  nothing! I have tried to hit the reset button several times and nothing either, no reaction at all. Now I had not played with the Dingoo for a while, but when I turned the console on it displayed a full battery so I have NO idea what happened or how to get the console working again!  As I mentioned this is the first time it has happened to me and I have never read about it happening to some one else either. I am totally lost as what to do next. Any help would be greatly appreciated, Vin.

It sounds like the battery died. Consider buying a replacement battery, I'm not sure if they are currently available (the Dingoo is not manufectured any more) but DealExtreme used to have batteries for it.

Thanks for the reply, that would explain a lot of things, but even still, if it were the  battery wouldn't it show up on the pc as a hard drive at least?

I don't think so, when I plug my Dingoo to the PC it instantly boots up to the screen showing that it is charging and after that it's detected, I guess it does some things while booting to that screen that are needed to be recognized as a storage unit since the connection is not done directly to the internal storage.

You could be right Diego, I just know that when I have plugged an mp3 that runs on batteries for example into the PC without a battery in it, it still shows up as an external hard drive. Not the easiest thing to find in Spain but I think I'll have to start looking for another one. Un abrazo, Vin.

P.S. I just remembered that I have a Dingo A380 with a busted screen lying around the house. Anyone know if that battery would work in my A320??

I believe the a380 batteries are also rated at 3.7v, so you can try it in your a320 just to see if it works before ordering a new one. You've got nothing to lose as neither device is currently working. Hope you get it sorted.

Thanks Firefly, here are the specs for each taken off the net

Dingoo A380 Battery: 1700mah Lithium Ion Battery

Dingoo A320 Battery 3.7V 1700-1800 mAH (6.29WH)

The people over at the A380 forum seem to think that it's going to come down to if the battery from the A380 will actually fit into the A320, but you make a very good point, at the moment neither is working,  so I don't seem to have a whole lot to lose!!

do a search on ebay for 3.7v lipo or gps/tablet battery. as long as it maches the same size, or similar size it will work. i  drilled a small hole in my dingoo and taped a 4000mah battery to the back of it. made it thicker and easier to hold and it goes forever now.

That's an interesting idea.
I'm thinking a GBA-SP or DSi battery may work as well, as they are pretty close in voltage/mah.
As a matter of fact, I have modded a GBA-SP to use a DSi battery, little slight mod to the inside shell and it even fits right in there.

If my dingoo battery goes dead anytime soon, I'll do that and post the results here.
Unless someone beats me to it...haha
DA320, DTA330, DD/GA330, DMG (modded), MGB (modded), MGL, CGB (modded), GBA, GBA-SP (001 and 101 (custom) w/flashcarts), GB Micro, DS Lite, DSi (custom), 3DS, 3DS-XL (all  w/ flashcarts), PSP (modded), WonderSwan, NeoGeo Pocket Color...PS1, 2, 3 and 4...
